Really nice place, roomy, good atmosphere. Limited selection but some decent choices. Food was decent. We might come back if in the area for the other places, roc brew, old toad.

Good location on the corner of East and Alexander, right in the heart of the downtown scene. They had around 12 beers on tap, nothing exciting or new but 1 or 2 were decent choices. Big plus for having Utica Club in cans for $2. Good prices. Plus the Old Toad is just a short walk down the street.

Always a zoo near the bar, and at the washrooms too. Bartenders are helpful when they have the time, and they seem to know the product. Diverse selection, with usually one oddity and a decent special. Booths are nice, location is good.

Great location and good atmosphere, but damn crowded on the weekends. It takes forever to get the bartender’s attention. Beer selection is awesome however, if you’re making it out to "A Street" might as well hit up Old Toad, who dominates them in beer: numbers, styles, geography, and perhaps even quality. MK has more of that "going out" vibe, though. Always fun with the right group of people. #21 on 29102009, DG.

Nice little place right on the corner of East and Alexander. Usually not that crowded, but I’ve never really been there on a weekend. House brew is an IPA brewed by Custom Brewcrafters and isn’t that bad. You can usually find one or two more of CB’s beers on tap there, as well as decent micro selection. Worth stopping in for a beer or two, but The Old Toad right down the street has a much better selection.

Very good beer selection. Occasional real ales on cask. Great micro selection on tap from Magic Hat, Lake Placid, and Custom Brewcrafters to name a few. Outside patio is nice in the summer. Big TV in the corner that will play European soccer league games.

A European style pub on the corner of East Ave and Alexander St, Monty’s is a great place to grab a beer or two. It’s right in the middle of a bar district. There are a couple tvs that usually show European league soccer, and a dart board for cricket. In the summer, there are some chairs and tables outside, which are great for a cigar. There’s about a dozen good beers on tap, plus another dozen (mostly macros) in bottles. The slogan on their website is "no pitchers, no bud, don’t ask." Weeknights, Monty’s is usually pretty empty, which is great for a few chill beers, and on weekends it gets pretty crowded. One of my favorite bars in Rochester, and while you’re there, you should stop in the Old Toad, which is just a few doors down.
