90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 3fourths (1082) Boulder, Colorado | November 19, 2012 Nürnberger Alm is a new restaurant located at the former site of Hutt’n, and run by the same staff, including the publican Gerhardt. The interior, beer list and food menu is all nearly the same as the former Hutt’n, which is now moved around the corner and is operated (at least the beer and food selection) by different people (I believe it still has the same owners). The new Hutt’n is a shadow of it’s former self, but Alm continues Gerhardt’s focus on showcasing high-quality Franconia breweries and features beers on tap and in bottle from four breweries (Lindenbrau, Elch-Brau, Landwehr, Pyraser), including a hausbier Schwarz from Pyraser. The Lindenbrau beer is especially good, ranking among the best in quality for Franconia, and it was this visit to Alm and talking with Gerhardt that led us to make the trip to Grafenberg to visit the brewery itself (though you wouldn’t know Lindebrau operates on another level if you read the ticker ratings of bottles). For beer travelers in Nuremberg, Alm should be the #1 spot for Franconian beer from tap (as Hutt’n used to be). |
