60 Visited on 13th November 2014. Only reason we can here was to pick up a specific Ballast Point Victory at Sea variant. Place was packed with a foodie crowd. Couldn’t drink outside so found a table inside that was empty and were promptly moved as it was reserved. Had to stand in the way at the bar amidst much tutting and plough through a pint or two of beer. Table remained vacant for our entire stay.
Don’t know why the beer was here only. Seemed not the right place to me. Prices were OK. Wouldn’t rush back. |
66 Visited on Thursday 13th November around 7pm, specifically to tick Victory at Sea Toasted Coconut at a mini BP tap takeover during SD beer week.
This venue is about a 10 minute walk from Pizza Port OB, pretty much one block up and 7 or 8 along.
This smallish venue was packed with a young crowd eating and not really drinking, certainly not the good stuff it appeared.
There were a couple of seats outside but you couldn’t drink alcohol there so back inside we went and sat ourselves at the one vacant table. We’re fully reserved - you can’t sit there. As we weren’t seated we had to go for bar service, which to be fair was prompt, although I got dirty looks from two women eating at the bar whilst I said excuse me and leaned through to order. I mean - fuck you, if you want to get in the fucking way of me being served what the fuck do you expect plonked at the bar in MY way! As you can tell - I wasn’t getting on too well with this venue. Aside from the Victory at Sea I came for, the tap list was ok if unspectacular.
Pints only - no small pours. We weren’t in the mood for staying and were simply in the way standing by the bar.
As we left someone was seated at the table, so we could have sat down and kept out of everyones way all along.
Not for me, I’d only head back here if there was something really special on tap. |
82 Don’t know how I forgot to rate this place. Visit in early June. Great tap list, parked a few blocks away. Friendly service, maybe not the most knowledgeable. Decent price. The Pho wasn’t bad at all, decently flavorful broth. Interesting atmosphere. Worth going back! |
92 Best happy hour for craft beer lovers. 1/2 off on all their draft beer and they have many, I think around 40. Great selection such as Stone Ruination, Bear Republic, Racer X, and Delirium Tremens.
Their pho is pretty good and the service is great. My only complaint is the noise level which they add to by blasting the music. |
90 Located in Ocean Beach and not really advertised as having a great beer selection, this place has close to 40 beers on tap. Ranging from seasonal local beers fromm green flash to stone to begians from 3 different Deliriums, Dutchess, etc to the extreme Brew Dog Tokyo Imp Stout. Plenty of beer to keep you satisfied. Ate there for lunch but the menu has a lot of asian dishes and a big Pho selection. Nice contemporary atmosphere and knowledgable bar staff. Kinda small so there may be reservations needed for dinner. Definately will hit this place up again while in OB. |
