80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 18/20 LeCrunk (1) , | December 27, 2012 Great ambiance, although very difficult to find a open table. 8-10 beers on draft offered, but those that are available are solid. Great coffee drinks too. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 jhumphries69 (33) Tyrone, Georgia | March 8, 2010 Cool coffee bar across the street from Five Seasons westside and Hop City - with those two business, forms Atlanta’s "Beer"muda Triangle (so they call themselves). Cool open place, free wi-fi, delicious coffee and espresso drinks (though extremely expensive) and an excellent selection of draft beers, too! | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 tubehead (14) Atlanta, Georgia | February 14, 2010 OK, so it’s the best coffee in town - subjectively - they win Creative Loafing every year as well as the southern regional of the barista competition - so it’s worth the trip for that alone. Add in 10 or so great craft beers on tap and it’s simply not fair. Last time I went I had the Bell’s Hopslam and the Gouden Carolus Van de Kaizen - at one place! Plus, it’s across the street from the best beer store in town - Hop City. Apparently they have food - didn’t notice. I was too busy drinking! | 54 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 Oakes (612) Savusavu, Fiji Islands | January 29, 2009 This rating would be more appropriate on CoffeeGeek than on Ratebeer. The beer list at Octane is okay for a coffee shop. You can definitely find good beer here. But they are one of the best coffee shops in the South and that’s a much better reason to visit. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (138) Georgia | March 13, 2008| Updated March 13, 2010 Squirreled away on Howell Mill between the Atlanta Humane Society and Georgia Tech, Octane Coffee Bar & Lounge is worth finding. Parking is a bit scanty, but it is convenient to at least one MARTA bus route. The food selection is no great shakes, but what they have is tasty and reasonably priced. It is their beer selection that does my heart glad - all microbrews and imports, and not one American big brand! Octane is small and does not have a lot of seating, but it is a good site for a small or medium gathering such as a Meetup. The alternative music they play is not too loud so you can have a good conversation. This joint is popular with geeks one can always see plenty of laptops. |
