76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 theisti (352) Leawood, Kansas | February 1, 2013 Visited towards the end of the evening on a Tuesday. 16 or so beers on tap plus one on cask. The beer list was really solid, nothing too extravagant, but a bunch of nice beers. I looked at the bottle list briefly, and it seemed to be pretty great. The crowd was good as was the service. This was good place, though I thought it lacked a bit of energy. However, this was my last stop of a pretty long day of travel and bar hopping, so I am sure it was mostly me that lacked energy. I will revisit next time I am in town. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 Capa (248) Manama, Bahrain | January 23, 2013 Stopped in for a late night pint after a day on the town. Kind of an odd setup to the bar. You initially walk in to a medium size, dive bar feeling place with a long bar on the left near the rear. After sitting at the bar I noticed there was a second, larger seating area behind the main room with tables for eating and a library of sorts at the far back. Kind of confusing but neat at the same time. Our bartender wsa drunk, I assume, but friendly, and quick with our beers. Had a nice selection of beer and some I’d never heard of (Carton Boat Beer, which was awesome). I really enjoyed the place and would stop in again for a few pints. Nothing fancy, just a nice place for a quick pint or two. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 mansquito (56) Nueva York, New York | November 2, 2012 This is a pretty nice place. The decor is clean, but not sterile. Everything is sort of west coast themed. The beer selection is good, but not outstanding. There were three beers on tap that I didn’t have, and I ordered each of them. The bartender was nice and was able to tell me which beer was which. They also had two firkins. There is a back room with a large TV. Not bad. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 ben4321 (163) Hoboken, New Jersey | September 11, 2012 We stopped in here for a quick beer, and ended up waiting out a quick, crazy rain storm. A nice place. We had good service, and the bartender was really friendly, though the place was fairly empty, so he wasn’t very busy. The selection was decent, especially if you are not a local and want to try less distributed Brooklyn/NY beers, but it isn’t amazing.
Interesting set-up in the back as well, with a library looking room with a big screen showing the Cal game (Cal seems to be the bars theme). | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 Stine (74) Minneapolis, Minnesota | August 14, 2011 A beer bar sporting a tap menu that greatly details its selections, but the list is very much only average and quite limited in size and quality. It’s a friendly and warm atmosphere and the service is kind and quick, so if you’re in the neighborhood and want a drink, might as well! | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 ketchepillar (18) Albuquerque, New Mexico | June 14, 2010 Chose this over 4th Ave Pub based mainly on the fact that they offered flights of any of there draft beers. 6 7.5oz pours for $18. Nice atmosphere. I didn’t really talk to the staff but also didn’t foresee any gripes there. Good prices. $5-7 for 12 to 16oz pours. That includes imperials and the like. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 j12601 (262) Poughkeepsie, New York | January 10, 2010 Stopped in here on a lazy Sunday afternoon while waiting for 4th ave. pub to open. Full of locals and regulars who along with the bartender made me feel like this was someplace I’d be all the time if I was a local. People sitting next to me ordered take out from one of the multitude of menus they keep on hand. Opted for the slightly high priced sampler which couldn’t include the Bourbon County Stout on tap, so I ordered one of those as well. Nice selection of taps, decent service, and a really great atmosphere. | 90 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 beershih_tzu (12) Brooklyn, New York | January 7, 2010 My only criticism is only barely worth mentioning. They keep the lights up so high! Seems weird to me, but might not to you. Heck, it doesn’t keep me from going there as often as I can. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 PilsnerPeter (100) Flushing, New York | July 14, 2009 Decent micros always on tap, with OK prices ($6 dollars for a pint is the average). The staff seems decent, but they aren’t very accommodating (they don’t pour half pints...) They do a sampler of any 6 beers @ a 7.5oz pour for $18, which seems cool (depending on their current selection). This place is all about ambiance though. The back room/lounge is very laid back with random couches, exposed brick, and a vast selection of books. (I believe the owner is friends with a library owner?) Cool spot overall with great ambiance. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 nramsburg (15) New York, New York | November 27, 2008 I gladly make the trip to Pacific Standard whenever possible and trust me when I say I live nowhere near it. Not even the same borough -- though for all intents and purposes it’s really quite accessible given its proximity to Atlantic Ave and its wide selection of subways. If that won’t get you close enough, the F train also services Park Slope near here.
To begin with, the atmosphere of the place is great. It manages to attract a low-key, welcoming bunch of people and, if you’re lucky, their four-legged friends. Having an open policy for dogs really speaks volumes about a place. Both the back area and front are great and distinctive and effectively turn the place into two bars, one traditional "bar" and a second informal back lounge area. Seating abounds.
The beers are incredibly reasonably priced and well chosen. The servers always know exactly what they’re serving and will offer candid reviews. Great selection with lots of taps -- Southampton, Avery |
