A large Wetherspoon pub with a high-ceiling hall as you walk in and plenty of places to sit. It gets a little more intimate towards the back of the pub but the ambiance changes little. Its city centre location means it is popular and real ales are on a couple of sets of pumps.

A generic Wetherspoons chain pub. Very convenient location next to the rail station. Usually a modest selection of real ales in addition to the generic stuff. You could do worse, but there are better places for beer within a short walk. Competitive prices though. Food is generic but consistent and prompt. Breakfast is good value, especially for children. This is a city pub - no garden or patio.
