the sampler was quite cheap and had generous pours. however, the beer was pretty average. food pretty average as well. if you find yourself in port huron, worth a stop, but i would go too far out of the way to go here.

Located in downtown Port Huron, The Quay Street Brewing Company is a small and quaint brewpub and restaurant with a focus on traditional Italian cuisine and American pub grub.
The bar is at the front of the interior beside some brewing vessels while the upstairs dining room and patio overlook the Black River. Various Italian beer posters line the walls, presumably in keeping with the restaurantís food theme. We sat in a booth with a partial view of the grain room. The decor is very old fashioned, almost drab, and on the whole this place resembles your typical family eatery.
In terms of selection, the six standard draught beers include a pale ale, nut brown, and stout. I went with the seasonal "specialty" brew which happened to be the 442 Porter. It was spot on for the style, very roasty and port-like with a full-bodied, chocolaty mouthfeel and ashy-dry finish, and it paired well with my BBQ ribs and beer battered fries. My girlfriend wasnít over the moon about her spinach pie, but she enjoyed the chicken and walnut salad and we both thought the banana bread - which comes in a mixed basket free of charge - was really good.
Service was average as the host and waitress were polite but uninterested and our server didnít describe any of the beers or specials to us. Iím also not used to getting IDíd at bars. However, the drinks and food arrived quickly and the waitress left us alone while we ate. Price wise we were quite happy with the affordability of everything.
Although Quay Street is nothing spectacular, I would say itís worth a stop if you happen to be in Port Huron. At the time of our visit we were doing a cross-border beer run to Wolverine Market and Ryanís Party Store and we decided to pop in here for dinner. For the most part we were satisfied with our experience and in future weíll probably stay in town overnight so we can try more of the brewpubís beers.

Nice location on the river, which is nice to look at from the bar. Beer is decent, but nothing worth hunting out, if youíre in the area stop by, donít make a special trip. The bar area is pretty small, but it wasnít very packed on a Saturday night either, so maybe it is enough. I think this place is first and foremost a restaurant, but I didnít go eat though.

On the Black River, good place to sit outside if it is in the summer. The food is good. The service is good. Still smoking in the bar. The beer used to be good about five years ago. If you go get the homemade root beer. If you get the beer, get the sampler to find out if they even have a beer that would be drinkable

Took a one hour drive on a sunny day to check this place out, have a bite to eat and enjoy a few beers. The place itself is nice enough, the back patio is on a canal which is pleasant, but not the greatest view really.
Shared the Chicken Picatta, it was good, nothing particularly great but good enough to warrant the price.
The beer itself was a teerrrrible disappointment, and I wasnít expecting it to be anything more than average for a restaurant microbrew! I had the pale, raspberry wheat, maibock and a couple others. All of them were disastrous and literally a struggle to even finish. We kept hoping one would be good... but they were all far below mediocre. Iím not even a beer snob, they simply were COMPLETELY unenjoyable.
A good enough place for a decent plate of food, but Iíd get an iced tea.

Nice atmosphere, usually live jazz. It has an upscale but still casual feel. The food is delicious, I have never been dissapointed. The beer is not bad, but not spectacular. Their best is the pale ale, its solid and goes well with their food. As far as port huron goes, this is close to the tops youíll find. Give it a try.

One of the nicer places in the Port Huron area. Attractive building with a comfy atmosphere. Upstairs is nice for dining and often has live piano or other strings. The deck is very nice in the summer. Food is quite good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the beer is below average and as someone said before, the crowd is also.

Stopped here for lunch in mid-July 2006 on my way to the UP. Nice classy-looking place with a sort of muted Mediterranean vibe, pleasant patio area over the river and with a view of the drawbridge on the next block. Very reasonable prices and the soup/half sandwich combo I had wasnít bad....beer unfortunately was rather poor with nothing really rising above "OK". Some diacetyl problems and just overall blandness. Ehhh.

Not a bad looking place. But the crowd is pedestrian and the beers are horrible. Stay away.
