Interesting restaurant inside the 'Krakauer Haus' with a Polish touch although the menu also features Franconian food and especially beer. Sat outside in the beergarden during a sunny afternoon waiting for my train to arrive at the main station, had enough time to enjoy a Spalter Zwickel on tap. Five other draft beers are available, mostly Franconian lagers. The small bottle list focuses on Franconia as well. Very relaxed atmosphere, solid service, very decent pricing. Is apparently very crowded during the evening, so reservation is recommended. Nice venue!

Nicely located on-top of the city wall. A small selection of Franconian beer but worth a look as you may find something new. I had ordered food and it was average. Prices were reasonable though. Staff were very friendly.

Visited August 2013. Hard to find but mostly worth the effort. I sat in a narrow enclosed area along the top of wall over the river. Grand views looking back at the city of the castle to the right and church towers to the left. Ordered a Hetzeldorfer Vollbier which was excellent and a Linden-Brau Dunkel which was also very good. Things would have been better, and the score higher, if I had left then. Unfortunately I ordered food. This took forever to arrive and when it did was tasteless and boring. The Hackfleisch Pirrogen was some pierogies with a tasteless white sauce and lots and lots of salad. It was the worst meal I had in four weeks in Germany. Ordered another beer during the long wait and this was a poor Spalter Hell.

Wonderful place. The beer garden is almost pastoral, difficult to manage in a city as large as greater Nuremberg. A good selection of Franconian beers, though few enough that you won’t have to worry about them being fresh. The locals love it too and appear to have the place mostly to themselves so far. I don’t think they’ll mind well-behaved beery pilgrims in their extended living room, though… :)

This is my favourite beer drinking spot in Nuremberg so far. It is located in the city center, in the Cracow Tower (restaurant) and on top of the (rebuilt) historic city wall. If that alone is not enough to convince you, let me tell you that the selection of mostly Franconian beers is not huge, but quite decent, and includes several good beers on tap (Spalter Zweickel, Krug Lager, and Hetzelsdorfer Vollbier, to name a few). The food is hearty (polish and franconian dishes) and portions are generous. Try to visit during summer, when the beer garden is open - the atmosphere is lovely and there are more beers to choose from than in the restaurant. But beware, especially in the evening and on weekends it can be difficult to find an empty table without a reservation sign. It is common to share tables, though, so look closely before giving up! Food and drinks are very reasonably priced, though not as cheap as in rural Franconia.
