We visited the River House on a Sunday afternoon for a little diversion while driving back to Ohio from NYC on Interstate 80 West. Itís about 10 minutes south of the highway.
The outside looks like an Italian restaurant complete with a Romanesque statue and an outside bar with vines growing up the sides of the building. Inside, itís like a maze with several dining areas and a bar separated by long hallways. They have a large bar and several tables as well as the outdoor bar area.
Their beer list draft selection contained about 10 high quality beers. None were brewed on premises since they had a recent fallout with their brewer, but most were local and the ones we tried were good. They have a new brewer so they should be offering brewed on site beers soon. The variety was good but the selection was not extraordinary. We ordered Lancaster Hop Hog IPA, Elk Creek Amber Ale, and Troegís Hopback Amber Ale. All were quite nice at $4.75 a pint.
The menu was mostly Italian with appetizers, sandwiches and a full compliment of dinner selections. The pizza selection was extraordinary with a total of 40+ to choose from. We ordered a half and half (Brewhouse Favorite and Lewisburger Special) of two different offerings and it was good.
It wasnít crowded. The service was good and the waitress was super nice.
I would go there again, but there are so many beer bars to choose from along the Pennsylvania section of Interstate 80, that I probably wonít go back

Stopped on a Sat afternoon around 4pm - dead. Interesting Greco-Italian mom-and-pop restaurant feel to it. Nice location along the river. Unfortunately, they only had two of the house beers on tap - everything else was guest brew. Apparently, the brewer is no longer active there and theyíre slowly going through their stocked up supplies of kegs. Hopefully, theyíll find someone soon or they wonít have any of their own beer to serve. Friendly service.

This brew pub is located along the river in Milton, or pretty close to Lewisburg. The interior seems like a 1980ís chain restaurant, though I do have to cut them some slack given their recent flood. There were a few house beers on alongside several craft selections. No food was consumed on this trip, so I cannot comment on it, other than it seemed to be varied in cuisine.

The Italian food really rocks with the fresh sauces and all. The antipastos are delicous and a really nice touch. And who could complain about half price pizza night? Did I mention the beers? Central PA is rapidly turning into Brewpub Nirvana. My review might be somewhat influenced by an excess of an awesome Porter.

Admittedly itís not yet much to look at. Thereís a bit of a maze within the building before you get to the bar but how often do you get to drink beer at a place and talk to the person who brewed your beer? River House has been open a year but the guy in charge has been brewing for over a decade and it shows in the beer. This is a place that does fantastic big beers. The triple and the oatmeal stout were both outstanding. They have plans to move the kitchen which will give them more space to brew more and different kinds of beer. They currently have around 7-9 different beers on tap plus a guest tap. Itís fantastic to visit a place thatís on the up run by people with a passion for beer. A great addition to the neighborhood.
