Big supermarket, selection really varies. The big branches are actually quite good, with a reasonable and increasingly interesting range of UK beers and a growing solid Belgian/US/German selection. You may not get many ticks but you can certainly get yourself some tasty beer. The ’Local’ versions are a bit of a disaster zone, with a small selection of primarily macro brews.

Sainsburys usually has a decent range of beers. Mostly just UK brewers, but also some common Belgian and American stuff (e.g. Chimay, Sierra Nevada, etc.). Prices are generally pretty good, and you can often special deals, like three bottles for Ł5 or something. Always worth checking out.

This is the main supermarket of Lancaster. It has a regular supply of beers and ciders available. About 100. Its just a supermarket so there is no places to sit or eat but the selection is nice.

Supermarket which is starting to sell some craft beers in addition to the usual suspects. Expanding range of decent beers but is more expensive than other retail outlets.

Good selection of beers, real ales, usual brands plus own label stuff

It’s a bloody supermarket, ffs. Reasonable range of beers available including the improved White Shield and Guinness Foreign Stout. They’ve recently branched out and started stocking some more of the individual brewers such as Meantime & BrewDog. Some local beers catered for such as Robinson’s and Holt’s.
