78 Visited on a Wednesday evening. The place is big, with space split between beer, wine and spirits. The beer selection is very good, with lots of local stuff, US national brands, and some very good imports. The staff is friendly and attentive. The value is good. This place isn’t a world-class bottle shop, but if you are in Lexington then this place night be a good option to pick up a few beers. Also, it is located quite close to Country boy, so you can visit it during the same trip. |
68 Dropped in after UK lost to Louisville, sad face. I expected more based on the reviews, but I still left with two beers that are new to me. Easy parking on the lot. bombers and singles are in the walk-in cooler. My biggest complaint is that one in five beers were not identified with a label stating how much the product is worth in dollars. I had to go get a price check on two bottles only to find out they were ridiculously expensive. There is an easy solution to this inconvenience by putting price tags on your Flippin product. Is that so hard? |
58 Stopped in on a Friday evening. They had a dedicated parking lot, but it’s part of a strip mall, so it is somewhat shared and could potentially fill up. It was empty when I was here. The store seems to be more focused on spirits than beer. All of the beer they had was either in large format or in 4/6 packs with no build your won opportunities. I didn’t end up buying anything. The 1000 bottle claim here seems pretty exaggerated. I would put it more around 250. Did I miss something major? I’ll have to check it out again if I’m ever in the area. |
70 Plenty of dedicated parking right in front. Service was pretty good, but they did have some heartburn about breaking up six-packs. Selection was medium in size and has some gems. I was not a fan of freezing in the beer cave checking out brews. Pricing seemed average. They did have fresh two hearted. There was some taps, but nothing I was after. |
86 I really liked this place. Big beer section with huge walk in fridge. Lots of different bombers from the entire country, including some fairly unusual Stone stuff. This was also where I finally managed to track down Bells Expedition Stout, after having searched Illinois, Indiana and Ohio without luck. Staff was very friendly and knew beer quite well. |
76 Visited early evening on a Thursday. Shiny new store with an open layout and the beer stored in a walk in beer cooler, as well as a few outward facing doors. There was a small warm selection as well. Solid import and Lambic selection. Several Fantome, Drie Fontein, Prairie, etc. There was also an in store tap setup for you to enjoy on premises or take a growler to go. Service was available, though I didn’t engage. Impressive selection, nice clean layout. 76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
72 A big open, warehouse-ish style liquor store. Beer, wine, liquor, it’s all here. Really haphazard selection. Most of it’s in a walk-in cooler, but then there’s some stuff that is scattered about the rest of the store. A major pet peeve is ALMOST NOTHING was priced. Ugh. The selection, though, is solid. Good stuff, wide ranging, with some less common stuff. I found a Fantome that was new to me. Several taps and they offer cheap samples. I couldn’t tell exactly who was working and who was just hanging out, but the guy who rung me up was friendly and helpful. Prices ended up being OK. Plenty of parking. Solid stop. |
74 Poor selection of pick-a-six beers. Otherwise the selection was rather good. Some beers on taps. Unfortunately most of the beers on taps were sold out. Well...I came for the beers but I found some nice Bourbon whiskeys instead. |
76 Cool place right out of the main part of town. Big store with a bar for pints and taking growlers to go. Nice little area with tables to chill and drink beer. Service was good, the girl was new and had some pretty foamy pours but oh well. Selection on tap was great they had some stuff I didn’t see anywhere else in Kentucky. Selection of bottles to go was decent but nothing that really blew me away, I did pick up a 6er of Expo though. Prices were decent too, maybe a bit higher than some of the other stores we went to. Overall this place is a must stop, have a pint and do some shopping. |
82 Good bottle ship near UK in Lexington. Clean store with a good bottle selection and friendly staff. I’ll be back! |
