Walked in once by mistake, coming back with reason :)
Ambient is really nice, cosy, calm, with great music. I just love it. It is quite a small pub, but there are a lot of things to do. Nice choice of daily newspapers, big selection of books, sports broadcastings and most important: greatest selection of beers in Slovenia (84 and rising probably :))
Service is what i expect it to be: nice, friendly, also giving you advice you what to drink if you get lost in a menu.
Don’t know about the food, but there are a lot of fast - foods around, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Best thing about this pub are beer tastings, with slovenian beer specialist. On every tasting i’ve been to, there were some new beers that i haven’t tried them before. Owner of this pub really does everything he can to give you a unique beer experience. I really hope that he’ll one day open a pub in Gorenjska region :)
If you are in Ljubljana this is a place to go. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 b727trijet (148) Isleworth, England | July 14, 2012 Good service and choice of beers including Human Fish which is unfiltered and as good as many a cask-conditioned beer I’ve tried (virtually no carbonation) and served in pints! Free wi-fi. A worthwhile quick visit! Very attentive staff who speak English. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Barada (21) , Russia | July 9, 2012 Good selection of beers. Good service. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 ogivlado (270) Zagreb, Croatia | March 17, 2011 Cute little pub, only few minutes from the Central station. 44 beers available at that time. Cosy midday atmosphere, about ten people inside, mostly drinking tee. Typical pub interior. No food, only snacks. Waiter gave us cup of olives and cheese free of charge. Found two new beers here. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 Marko (188) Split, Croatia | February 15, 2011 The first pub we visited on our last tour de Ljubljana. Located in central Ljubljana, it seems to draw a crowd from younger folk through yuppies to an older, more intellectual crowd. More or less standard arrangement of paraphernalia on the wall, but also a large row of books, mostly very interesting titles, and I wouldn’t mind going there and reading with coffee/tea (nice selection of that)/a beer in the corner. That is, if it doesn’t get as packed as it did today, the patio is small, basically a couple of tables outside by the wall and doesn’t help in the rain/during snow like today, and the space inside is a bit more limited than one would hope for. Superb service, A polite, friendly, efficient and interested waiter, and we even got some olives and (lovely) cheese with our beer! The fare here seems to be sandwiches though, which we haven’t tried. The beer list is slightly hit & miss, obviously far better than in the average pub in Ljubljana and nicely varied but an experienced beer traveller won’t find much of interest. The draught selection is underwhelming too, but it’s still worth visiting as there are some beers you won’t find in other higher profile pubs (at least the ones we visited). All in all, I’ll be back :). | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 20/20 sirwilliams (1) , Slovenia | October 9, 2010| Updated April 11, 2013 An all together classier affair than most other pubs in town, Sir William’s clientele is largely a reflection of its location in the historic center of Ljubljana, just a short walk from the the railway station, between the national courthouse and Radio Television Slovenia, as well as several business hotels.
They offer one of the best beer selections in Slovenia - with more than 120 varieties (most of them craft beers), including over 30 from Belgium alone.
And if you add the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the wonderful atmosphere, free Wi-Fi and Big screen TV, Sir William’s Pub is the ideal place not only to enjoy excellent drinks, to watch sports, for beer tastings and relaxed and inspiring chats, but also for business meetings, socializing after conferences and private or business partys. |
