68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | January 23, 2013 So this is a brick oven pizza joint in Brooklyn that has decent pizza by NY standards and a decent tap selection of mostly regional and local brews. They take credit which is rare for this city. Kind of your upscale pizza joint. Not really a beer destination, but might be worth a stop if you are in search of a decent meal. |
82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 hivemind (11) New York, New York | December 12, 2012 Been here a few times as it’s right down the block from my girlfriend’s apartment in Brooklyn (Clinton Hill). Cool little hipster-esque beer/foodie haven in an otherwise borderline neighborhood. Together with Fulton Grand, our two go-to spots in the neighborhood. Abiance is pretty cool - dim but not annoyingly dark, wooden floors and furniture, high ceiling, etc. Tables are a bit close together, but that’s OK since the alternative is waiting (there is usually a wait on a weekend night). Only 8 taps, but they are usually decent and more or less local. They have cans of Genny Cream as well, which is amazing. Haven’t seen this anywhere else in the city. Good happy hour - $5 drafts and $2 Buds. Can’t go wrong. Food is very good. We’ve had a few of the different personal pizzas and they are all excellent and "artisan." One is just enough for one person, but the apps are also good. Chicken parm was interesting - not what you’d expect - less sauce and more seasoning/breading/etc. Service has never been bad. Last time I went in, I ordered two pizzas to go and they offered me a drink (not on the house or anything) while I waited. I declined at first b/c I was just going to wait for the pizzas and go meet my girlfriend, but she eventually wound up coming and and we drank two drafts each at the bar. The pizzas were done by then, but they didn’t ask us to give up our seats or anything. We of course held off on eating until we got home, otherwise it would have been a sneaky way of avoiding tipping for service. All in all, worth a trip if you live anywhere in NY, not just Bk. |
