An English- style pub within walking distance of hte city center. Dark wooden interior, real food and a nice selection of beers (including cask ale). They arrange every now-and-then events when they stock up on beers according to some theme. These include the annual ’sahti- days’ when you can sample pretty much every commercially- made sahti in Finland.

Two Real Ales and one Real Cider. OK selection. Loud. Visited on May Day Eve. 90% of the customers were drunk. Some really pissed. Service was bearable.

St. Urhos was my last stop on a Sunday pub crawl in Helsinki. Reasonable good range of bottled beers and beers on tap. They even had English cask ales. And their house porter, made by Huvila, must be characterized as delicious. Good pub food, too, I was very pleased with my St. Urhos Pannu. Music free and no noise from the TV or any fruit machines. Just people eating, talking and drinking in relaxed and likable surroundings. Thanks to Matti (mjs) for guiding me around the pub scene in Helsinki and to Patrik for his recommendations. If you just visit one pub in Helsinki I would go there, grab one beer (they have 80 different types) and order the St.Urhos special from the menu (its a loaded dish). After that get one Sahti to flush everything down.

A quaint little place just by the National Museum. Went there for a couple of beers after touring that, it was close to opening time and there already were 10 or so people. The bartender didn’t speak great English but we managed to get by... he did however disappear to the back for quite some time after I ordered my last beer, which left some other patrons puzzled. The selection is huge and with some gems, like the Finlandia Sahti (from a plastic canister(!)) and the lovely Dark Star APA on cask. A foreign tourist might complain about the prices but face it, you’ll pay just as much if not more for much worse beers here at some other places!
