74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 mrjaxson (27) .08 Junction, Wisconsin | December 28, 2012 There’s no mistaking that you’re touring a 155-year-old working facility when you drop in on the Point Brewery. The gift shop is small but very pleasant with a nice selection of Point’s current beer and soda pop offerings at reasonable prices. If you put down $3 for the tour, you get to squeeze through sections of the brewery made for brewing and not touring (many steps, ladders and slippery floors). At the end of the tour, you have 20-30 minutes to enjoy three 10-oz tap samples. Choices include current Whole Hog limited editions, a full lineup of Point’s year-round and current seasonals, two different ciders from its new Ciderboys line, and four of their gourmet sodas. A real eye-opener is their shipping area, where you see all the contract brewing or bottling they’re doing for other beer labels. Tour guide Cassandra was friendly and informative. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 snakepliska (1) Ohio | March 29, 2012 Great tour for only 3 bucks and a nice hospitality room with a selection of all their brews. | 64 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 11/20 arkurzynski (72) West Bend, Wisconsin | November 1, 2011 Old-time brewery feel. Decent gift shop with ability to buy seasonal brews. Tour was pretty good with a generous tasting afterwards. | 50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 11/20 BVery (323) Burnsville, Minnesota | September 1, 2011 Stopped in here as part of a brewery/brewpub tour through central Wisconsin. Smallish brewery kind of hidden away in Stevens Point. Friendly staff, and a logo glass was only $3. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 dekester1 (28) Neenah, Wisconsin | May 8, 2010 I had a ’private’ tour of the brewery as part of a UW-SP activity. A small brewery feel with a knowledgeable guide. The tasting at the end was great. This was a free tour, which is not normally the case anymore. I would still recommend a visit if in the area. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 jebert (13) Watertown, Wisconsin | January 2, 2010 Took the brewery tour today and enjoyed it. This brewery is the 4th oldest continuously operated brewery in the US. Lots of history, some older equipment but also some new equipment (keg filler/washer and bottler labeler) . They also contract brew and bottle for other breweries. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and personable. Plenty of beer and soda samples with popcorn in the hospitality room. With over 150 years of brewing tradition, there was plenty of memorabilia to view and enjoy. For a cost of $3, the tour was a good value. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 17/20 jbuzz (35) Milwaukee, Wisconsin | April 20, 2009 Small suprisingly small. Nice close up tours. We got to sample three beers of our choice. Took about 40 min. | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 sunevdj (45) Copenhagen OE, Denmark | August 12, 2008 Nice little brewery tour with tasting. The brewery has a bit of interesting history. They also make sodas which could make it an OK place to bring the kids. Even though I had my first root-beer here and never gone near one since. The tastes kinda macro-ish. | 66 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 Arnie (17) Chicagoland, IL, Illinois | February 18, 2007 A long-held favorite with friends/family in Steven’s Point, but the first time I’d been on the tour. The guide knew the material and was funny, but didn’t give the impression that brewing was her passion (beer, maybe). Tour’s fun, though. Some samples at the end, and a lot of small-brewing history rolled into the presentation. | 56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 awaller05 (20) Sharon, Wisconsin | December 27, 2006 Another Stevens Point place we stopped at frequently. I think the most memorable time was when we had a UWSP student give us a tour and you could tell she just wasn’t too excited to be there on a Saturday. We later found out that she was supposed to be off but one of her co-workers called in because he was too hung over from the party she attended with him. I just laughed at the story and told her that she didn’t drink enough. |
