ManVsBeer  (3523) Hebden Bridge, England | July 3, 2013| Updated April 8, 2017
Located just a pleasant few minutes walk heading west along the towpath from the centre of Hebden Bridge. This pub is smaller than the stand alone building would suggest, although its function room upstairs gives it a much greater capacity if needed. The main ground floor proves very popular for food at lunchtime and in the evenings so tables may be at a premium if you arrive too late. There is a good range of ales to keep those just seeking a drink occupied and plenty of canalside tables if the weather allows for outdoor drinking - a perfect place to watch barges go by in the summer months. The decor is traditional, well kept with a wood bias and lots of hops hanging down from the beams on the roof. Has a large car park too and it’s very hard to miss from the main road despite being set back from it on the other side of the river. Currently closed due to flood damage in 2015 - It may not reopen until 2017.

A friendly and cosy local in a nice location between the canal and the river just outside Hebden Bridge. The Stubbing Wharf is a double fronted stone building accessed over a little bridge from the main road. It has a good selection of beers and ciders (three regular beers, three interesting guests and four ciders on draught when we were there) and there are hops on the beams of the one big room. We visited on Boxing Day and there was a warm, convivial atmosphere – like walking into a friendly party, despite not knowing anyone there. (Visited 26 December 2012).
