Nice place. I like the darkened wood, low-light, and chalkboard menu lit up with street lights. The barkeep was attentive. I didn’t order any food but the guy beside had a sandwich and it looked pretty good. The selections are pricey. $5 for an IPA in a tulip...I don’t think so. I like the place an the staff...if they would lower the prices some I would frequent more.

I’ve been in several times now and it’s hit or miss. They do get beers that aren’t available anywhere else in the area, but they also serve them ice cold, in very full glasses, and with no head. Food is pretty minimal. Still the best place to get a beer in Knoxville.

While their food selection may not be the biggest in the world, it is by far better fare than most bars. Offering a good selection of taps, Suttree’s gets some beers that you just can’t seem to find anywhere else in Knoxville. It’s a short walk from The Casual Pint, just across the street from the Downtown Brewery, and the people there are friendly. You’ll get your fair share of beer snobs there, but that only speaks to the quality of their offerings. I really enjoy the atmosphere. If I lived closer it would be one of my two main haunts downtown. As it is, I live about 10 miles away, so I’m limited to one or two beers when I go, depending on the ABV of the brews.

Best bar in Knoxville. Beers constantly change. Selection is unbeatable.

Disappointing. I suggest the Casual Pint...much friendlier staff and better beer selection.

Though a little cramped, great atmosphere and a nice list of beers. If you are looking for late night eats, this is not your place as you will likely find chips or sausages only. Looking forward to going back!

This is the best addition to the Knoxville beer scene since the Bearden Beer Market. They have picked the beer lineup very well. Mostly American styles are available with emphasis on high alcohol stuff, but I’d say a third or more <6% make up the selection. Having Green Flash and Moylan distribute out here really helps things. This is probably the first place in town to serve beer in a snifter. The ambiance is classy and open making for a great place for conversation over a fine beverage. I had the meatloaf sandwich and sadly was not impressed. I’ll have to try other things on the menu. I’ll probably be back here almost every time I visit downtown.

Small, remodeled shotgun-style bar typical of many downtowns. Better ambiance than most, with no TVs blaring and just faint background music. The conversation is what this place is about and that’s a big plus. 24 taps and a decent bottle selection, but pretty low on the high gravity drafts. Prices are a little high, especially on the bottle offerings. Just glad downtown has a HG place like this, and hoping the selection will improve with time. Service is mostly a miss, and many times depends on if you’re in with the hipster bartender crowd. Best over 6.2% abv draft beer in Knoxville, but after all, it’s still only Knoxville.

Located right next to Downtown Wine & Spirits, this place is going to specialize in over 6% beer. The place is typical downtown building, narrow but deep, with hardwood floors and and cool mural on the wall, lots of seating and a huge bar that dominates the space. Excellent servive and attention to detail, plus all beers are available in either sample, half pours, or full pints. Now, a word about the selection - the premise of this place was that it would specialize in over 6%, but when I was there (the 2nd day of operation), the tap list was almost 50/50 hi-grav and low-grav. Now, this doesn’t bother me, in fact I like having a bunch of session beers to choose from, especailly if I’m gonna be here a while. But I am concerned that they have heard pie in the sky, "yeah we can get plenty of stuff for you" promises from Knoxville’s dumbass distributors that will ultimately fall through. I hope not. But as they are now, it’s a very cool place that I will be visiting a lot.
