80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Jow (93) New York | May 18, 2013 Finally made it up here. Awesome space and it’s touristy but not cheesy. Cool Italian brews and inspired brews. Food is delicious although I prefer some of downstairs locales. Waitress was kinda odd duck but oh well. Pretty cool place u should check out if visiting for experience. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 rickhall28 (125) Denville, New Jersey | April 27, 2013 I really don’t understand some of the reviews. You can’t compare apples to oranges...and I wouldn’t compare La Birreria to say my favorite beer bar...the Blind Tiger. Yes this place is expensive...it’s a brewery sitting on the roof over the top Italian tourist market in NYC...on Madison Square Park...with a glass roof that opens for goodness sakes! That can’t be cheap to do. Yes it gets crowded (see above where I mention the glass roof and brewery in the same room). As for something from DFH or Italy...c’mon...this is an amazing colaboration between Sam C. and the owners of two of Italy’s best craftbrewers...Baladin and Birra del Borgo. We have Sam to thank for this...he is the one who partnered with them and helped make this all possible. He then purposely took a back seat stylewise to showcase the new Italian craftbeer styles. Yes these beers are different...but it’s great to have the chance to try them...and to get them exposed to a decerning NYC craftbeer crowd. I highly recommend this place. If you are a craftbeer fan...come early on a Sat or Sun afternoon to avoid the crowds (or a weekday if you are playing tourist). The food is amazing.(make sure you try the beer and apricot pork shoulder). | 50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 9/20 puzzl (123) New York, New York | February 19, 2013 Crazy expensive, with very underwhelming beers from DFH or somewhere in Italy. Expect long waits. Basically the kind of place that you go to once and then never again. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 16/20 dinkle50 (54) Chicago, Illinois | January 24, 2013 Stopped in here for lunch while visiting NYC. Really cool spot but I wish there was a view. Food was awesome but kind of pricey. Nice beer selection with lots of bottles. The bottles were very expensive. I had a bottle that was really over carbonated so we were comped a free beer. If given the opportunity, I’ll be back to this spot. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 troubles (122) Tel Aviv, Israel | November 6, 2012 Visited on Sat. evening, we were lucky to get a table. As a beer geek that visited Italy several times, I was sure to see great Italian draft selection but was disappointed. Expensive place, some pints cost $10, bottles even more. Food is also expensive but very tasty. You can have a flight of the local brewed cask beers. I also found it very odd they have Moretti on draft - that’s not really craft. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 luttonm (96) Belgrade, Serbia | July 29, 2012 This is a fun spot, gorgeous roof location at the Flatiron building. Downstairs in the incomparable Eataly shop, just makes me wish I had won the lottery to buy a taste of everything. Gorgeous brewing set up on the roof and nicely set up table and bar. Food is expensive, but looked good, and the beers are a few bucks more than you’d expect but very well presented and curated. I’d say it is a must-visit if you’re chasing good beer in New York City. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 15/20 Radek Kliber (165) Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Poland | April 20, 2012
Very nice, airy spacy on rooftop of building. Service was spotty and seemed to prefer "better off" clientele than beer geeks like me. Beer was excellent yet with limited choices. Food on higher end, not best I had. Rather pricy. Overall mixed bag....
| 68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 13/20 blipp (78) Newark, New Jersey | April 9, 2012 Awesome rooftop location near the Flatiron building. The house beers are nothing to write home about, but are worth trying nonetheless, that is if you don’t mind dropping a Hamilton on a pint of beer. The other beers on draft are well picked, with some good Italian selections. If this place was like 25% cheaper it would be awesome. But at the price point, it’s not the type of place I’d keep coming back to. | 74 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 stammmta (17) New York | April 2, 2012 Cool location on top of Eataly, apparently others had my same thought. Space is tough if there’s a crowd, but worth the trip. Line up is limited but tasty. Not a regular but good for a change of pace, if you’re in the neighborhood or have reservations and out of towners. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 13/20 gnoff (256) Mölndal, Sweden | February 2, 2012 Visited for lunch on January 30, 2012. Nicely located on the top floor of this building with a glass roop. Had the soup and tried the three own beers they had available. Good service. Was a bit hard to find, but once you got in the building and looked around you saw the sign and got directed towards teh elevators. Drawback thay you couldn’t really get a sampler of beers. |
