76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 14/20 Drake (392) Ivy, Virginia | February 25, 2013 A little bit less character-ful than the other location, but still lots of character and even more beer. Deli, good beers with lots of locals on several taps, lots of locals eating lunch, decent parking, high prices on beer. I prefer the other location but this is a nice place too. | 60 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 DaveStroud (2) Indian Trail, North Carolina | October 12, 2012 This is a great neighborhood market. Great atmosphere. It is pretty small, so the selection is limited. | 84 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 thornecb (53) Marblehead, Massachusetts | May 18, 2012 A beer/wine/deli/candy store with taps and the ability to pick out beer from the cooler and either head out or grab a glass and head to the beer garden. What’s not to like? Very artsy vibe and friendly service. I enjoyed perusing the North Carolina chilled beer section and relative rarities in the warm import section. Selection is good - I found many rarities and was able to select quality beers for my companions to try. Didn’t have any of the food, but people appeared to be enjoying their sandwiches. Prices seemed reasonable - some Canadian beers were cheaper than in the Northeast. Overall a great place to visit, right on the light rail just a couple of stops from Downtown. Will definitely be back. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | October 9, 2011 Similar conept to its other Charlotte location, but doesn’t quite have the same vibe. Still has a good selection both in bottles and on tap, and its completely different from the other location, so its worth visiting both. | 92 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | April 6, 2011 This location much resembles the original Common Market with some marked improvements. First it has a bitchin’ brick alleyway which leads to a most excellent patio space and thus has much more seating. Second, it is in an area easily reached by the train. The only drawback is the beer selection, while still very, very serviceable, is just a hair shy of the other location.6 packs and bombers are available to take home or to drink on premise and there is no markup for on premise drinking. The taps are well chosen. I was thoroughly enjoying glasses of New Belgium Le Terroir for $4.33 after tax! This is a very hip store with a trendy crowd and was lively during our to visits without being slammed to the gills. It is worth noting the the website claims to be open until midnight seven days a week but we were here on Sunday and Monday and they closed at ten o’clock both nights. |
