68 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 allfreej (76) Louisville, Kentucky | April 20, 2013 Housed in an historic mill, the place is comfortable and has a nice ambiance.
Service was friendly, though not overly attentive.
The food was excellent. I took the recommendation of a previous reviewer and tried the meatloaf sandwich, which was awesome.
Nice selection of house beers. The IPA was good and they were featuring a house Doppelbock as the seasonal, which I might try before heading out.
Probably not worth a special trip but certainly worth the slight detour if you’re traveling the I-80 corridor. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 SudsMcDuff (174) .....Manchester United.........., Texas | January 26, 2013 beutiful building. . old feel to it, has a big restaurant area and a smaller cozy bar cove .. beer flight was awesome .. a nice place | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | February 5, 2012 The Gamble Mill is located in a historic building, complete with creaking stairs, jagged wood edges, etc. Where can you still find dedicated hot and cold faucets? This place had local artwork along the walls, all for sale and proudly on display. The house beers were pretty good, and the food was phenomenal. I had a meatloaf sandwich, and the meat was tender and juicy, just short of falling apart. The prices are very good. This should be a stop on anyone’s Pennsylvania I-80 beer tour. | 60 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 DiarmaidBHK (523) Pennsylvania | April 10, 2011 Thanks be to Uncle Lew for informing us about this place. The bar is located in the basement of an old mill. The decor is inviting, full of dark woods, wooden ceiling beams, and stone walls. The samplers were much bigger than I was expecting (8 ounces). On Sunday they have a very limited menu. They seem a bit short staffed as everyone seems to be scrambling. They dont really do big beers here as the biggest is a 6.7. I thought their hoppier beers were the most satisfying.I like the fact that they don’t do a ton of styles since it gives the hope that beers will continue to improve. The location isn’t convenient but I’ll keep an eye on the ratings for this place. | 72 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Nate (258) Indiana, Pennsylvania | March 26, 2011 Except for the addition of a brew house, this place hadn’t changed since the last time I visited for dinner in 2003. We’d go here a couple of times of year for a special dinner while in grad school. Great old mill, nice menu. Not too pricey for the area, but not the cheapest eats in town. The beers were solid, and I was particularly impressed with the farmhouse ale. Great service. | 56 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 5/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 12/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (49) GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania | March 13, 2011 An absolutely beautiful old building with lots of character. The bar area is a bit small. 4 taps of their own beer and a couple of guest taps of varying quality. Food is pricey but very well done. Staff is fairly knowledgeable and service is ok. | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 auerbrau (278) Peace Dale, Rhode Island | February 9, 2011 Have visited the Gamble Mill many times prior to their conversion to a brewpub and always enjoyed the atmosphere, the service and the food. A standup job all around. Fortunately, all of these elements are just as strong, with the wonderful addition of fresh beer brewed on the premise. I think the beers are very hit and miss, but the hoppier examples are really solid and reasonably priced. This is a new, great addition to a growing stronger beer scene and makes up for the sad decline of Otto’s since its poor choice of expansion. |
