60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 12/20 viktorvee (14) , England | April 12, 2013 This is a big, spacious pub. It has had the slightly generic revamp - vaguely vintage furniture, a handful of real ales and craft beers, over-loud music, semi trendy clientèle mixed with other locals and a few old-timers.
Lucky Chip are doing the food at the moment, and lovely burgers.
Beers wise there are Camden Town larger and pale ale on draft, plus the wheat beer in bottles, and a small amount of British, Belgium and American bottled beers.
The upper room was very loud when full but better when it emptied out. Might be nice pub at a quieter lunchtime for a few pints. Decent but not amazing.
Quite expensive (£4.40 for Camden larger seems excessive when it’s just up the road). | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 Leighton (389) London, England | December 10, 2012 Very nice place aesthetically. The beer range, however, is so so. They had some London breweries on tap (ELB, Hackney, Brodies) but mostly bitters and golden ales. They also have what seems to be a permanent Camden Pale keg line. Pints are fairly expensive (upwards of £4 per). The bartenders are friendly. Maybe worth a stop if you’re in the area, but this is not a destination pub. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 14/20 ladnewton (144) London, England | September 27, 2012 Just reopened this month under new management. Traditionally-furnished corner pub with an island bar. Seating is mainly table-and-chair. Tastefully decorated in two-tone green. Up to 6 real ales will be available - presently three were avaliable on my visit of 21st September. Micro-breweries to feature. Camden Pale available on Keg. Food served (and was delicious) - I was confirmed the pub’s first diner, but please check with pub regarding food because their website now says the kitchen is currently closed. This pub has been transformed from a virtual no-go to a pub for all. Well done to its new owners. Also note two worthy nearby venues - Tapping The Admiral and Camden Town Brewery Bar - a three-venue crawl is easy. |
