52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 12/20 troyc (147) Oklahoma | August 29, 2011 Dark interior with a typical faux Irish Pub feel to it. The beer selection is pretty pedestrian. They don’t change out the taps very often at all. The prices were fine, and I had no problem with the food. The service was quite poor on the multiple occasions I’ve been here. A complete waste of time beer-wise with Gingerman right down the street. | 68 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 14/20 thirdeye11 (33) Dallas, Texas | March 25, 2010 Place has an excellent patio, one of my favorites in Dallas. Very comfortable and right on McKinney. Whoever laid it out knew what they were doing.
Service is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s fantastic (most of the time), but when it’s bad it can be really bad.
Selection of beer is pretty safe, safe for the owner of the bar that is. Typical selection of "imports" (Guinness, Stella, Paulaner), but their Belgian seleciton isn’t bad either. Some American craft can be found too. Nothing too crazy or "special" but I can usually find something good to drink.
Food is probably my favorite part of this place. Above average burgers, mostly pub food but well done nonetheless.
Pricing can tend to be on the high side of things, but not unreasonable either.
Overall a place worth visiting, but probably not the first place I’d recommend to an out-of-towner looking for great beer. | 40 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 4/10 VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 8/20 dukefan (57) Dallas, Texas | March 23, 2010 Color me clueless, but I would never send a friend who was a beer lover to this place. Like the Dubliner and Old Monk (same owners) these guys carry the most pedestrian, safe, non-offensive beers you can carry. You know the dance - Boddingtons, Stella Artois, Sam Adams, Guinness . . . yawn! I went in and couldn’t find an acceptable beer. The food was OK, and the service was only slightly better than self serve. There is ZERO reason to go here with The Gingerman a mere three blocks away. | 82 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 bigwolfie (1) Dallas, Texas | April 26, 2009 Nice English pub atmosphere. Selection is reasonable with a few staples on tap and most of the bottles that you would want (if you really just want selection then the Ginger Man is a 2 minute walk - go there to experiment and here if you know what you want.) Seems like a larger selection than the Old Monk and Dubliner (the 3 share the same owner/managers), though it could be my imagination. Food is typical but fairly good quality pub grub. My favorite bar in Dallas because of the atmosphere and the simple fact that it has the best combination of beer and whisk(e)y selection around. (great for groups with mixed tastes between the two) | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 kseecs16 (194) Naperville, Illinois | July 30, 2008 Checked this out on a Tuesday afternoon and it was lively but not at all crowded. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. Nice atmosphere low light, big bar, lots of seating. Wide selecttion, that does not go very deep but does offer a good variety of countries and basic styles. Nothing rare or cutting edge but I’ll take an Aventinus any day. Food was solid. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 14/20 ilovedarkbeer (66) Dallas, Texas | June 28, 2008 Went on a Friday night when it was packed. Pretty nice interior with lots of tables and darts in the back. Bartenders are all very friendly. Beer list is actually unimpressive. Had a few interesting taps but they were out of everything that I wanted to try. DId not get a chance to try the food. Very smokey. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 biggcb (29) Harleysville, Pennsylvania | April 15, 2008 Nice and quanit pub setting. Service was good (Jeanne). Very nice selection of on tap and bottled beers. French dip was quite tasty. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 15/20 johndavidj99 (21) Dallas, Maine | February 14, 2008 Great place! English bar setting with very good (not as good as Saucer) selection. I had a Goudenband and a Maredsous 10. Great service. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 Walt (189) Austin, Texas | February 13, 2008 Cool english style pub...friendly bartender...not the most knowledgable though...very solid selection! Food was very good!!!! Order the Welsh Rarebit!!!!!! | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 mattcoats (17) Omaha, Nebraska | July 29, 2007 This place rocks! I try and go every time I’m in the area. Great selection of "near rare" beers. Parking’s a bitch on busy nights, but you can usually find a spot in the neighborhood to the north. |
