Place conveniently located to crown LCBO location. Multileveled with upper floor set up mainly for events. Tap list not biggest but solid. Service was nice , good ambient. Felt welcomed. Good beer spot.

This place feels like a smaller Pub Italia. It’s got the same rustic feel when you walk in. The parking nearby is terrible, but the transit is pretty good. The food was excellent, and far above what I expected. The price of the food was about par for that quality. The beer. Unfortunately, much of their beer menu is caught up in the LCBO importing process, so a few of the beers that my friends and I wanted to try weren’t available. Thankfully, there were quite a few interesting and tasty beers to try out, all of which were reasonably priced. The draft list in particular is impressive. I’d suggest going when they get all their beers back in stock, it’ll truly be a great experience then. Until then, it’s good, but not great. Worth going if you’re in the area.

A small cozy little spot in the Summerhill area. Dark wood with a small bar in the back corner. Friendly bartenders and a selection of mostly German and Belgian imports. Pricy food (as befits this neighborhood) but the burgers the ladies behind me had smelled ridiculously good. Occasional events are held here, but I’ve not partaken. It’s a fairly nice-looking spot and it has the food/beer to match. Good spot.

EDIT - Feb 2012: had the pleasure of being served by owner Adam Grant and what a difference it made. This guy really cares about providing his patrons with a quality experience. Was glad to try two beers that I hadn’t sampled before and the lady and I were very satisfied with our meals. Food prices were better than before. Recommended. 2010 Review: The Monk’s Table is a cozy two-floor pub and restaurant located near the Summerhill LCBO and not too far from Granite Brewery on Eglinton. When my girlfriend and I came here on a Sunday evening, the atmosphere was dimly lit with lots of people chatting it up by the bar. As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by a friendly bartender, who informed us that a quieter setting was available upstairs. We took him up on his offer and were not disappointed. The second floor is much more spacious than downstairs and our window-side table had a nice view overlooking Yonge Street. For appetizers we went with the melted cheese and dark beer dip, as well as some chicken drumsticks that were glazed in a spicy marinade. Both dishes were tasty and well presented, though perhaps a bit pricey (over $25) for the small portions. The beer selection falls short of what you can find at the city’s top beer bars - barVolo, beerbistro, and C’est What? - but is very impressive in comparison to most other pubs in Ontario. I noticed La Trappe Quadrupel, Urthel Hop-It, Erdinger Weissbier, and Fuller’s London Porter on tap, with Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor and Noel, Adnams Bitter, and De Struise Pannepot in bottles. I ordered a pint of Fuller’s Chiswick Bitter while my girl had a glass of sauvignon blanc. Unfortunately our waitress was a bit withdrawn. As we came up the stairs the two servers realized they would have to end their discussion, if only briefly, and they didn’t seem too happy about it. However, everything arrived at the table in reasonable time and the girl did a commendable job of leaving us alone while we ate. In sum, this place is a great spot if you’re in the mood for European craft beer and above average pub grub. Also, several of the Monk’s taps and bottles are not sold in packaged format at the LCBO or TBS, so it gets extra points for pushing a limited range of rare premium stuff.

At the recommendation of Dougshoemaker, had dinner here. A nice selection of bottles and draught accompanied a comfy atmosphere. Service was very good. I ordered a Chiswick Bitter and then a Hop It. Both in proper glassware with accompanying knowledge from the staff. These guys are serious about their beer.I ordered a burger for dinner and it was a fresh patty with a delicious slaw and tasty frites. The specials looked great too. I’ll come back to spend some more time next time I am in town.

Nice cozy pub in Summerhill area. More adult crowd than Abbott at Yonge/Lawrence. Service is top notch. Beers are an interesting collection of Euros, with many draught choices rarely seen on tap in Ontario. While unique, there’s a definite gap without the Ontario/US micros (i.e., hopheads will be disappointed). Food is excellent pub fare. In a bit of a chi-chi neighbourhood so a little expensive but still decent bang for the buck.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon last April, this little pub has a fair beer selection for the city. Lots of Belgian selections and some expensive imports in bottles, the tap list is a fair range of local and common brews. Service was friendly, food was tasty, and the overall feel is modern and comfortable, but there’s an infused cost with everything that puts off more regular visits.

This Toronto pub is a wonderfully warm venue. The atmosphere is inviting; on my visit it was small enough to be cozy but still not too cramped or crowded. I was glad to see many beers unique to Toronto both on draught and in bottles. Our appetizer was good. My friends and I agreed that returning is a must.

I swear I rated this before. Hmmm. Great atmosphere, service is friendly. Tap list is mostly imports but decent. Food is excellent, not cheap but reasonable. Hmm, the fact that I have not been back recently enough to have more to say than anything else. Rather nice, but theres other places I would go in Toronto first.

Re-rate: What an incredible little place. Staff all very knowledgeable, a nice selection of import beers on tap and in bottle (all mainly German & UK products) all served in proper glassware. It’s a very cosy pub, ideal for an after work pint, a midday crossword and a chat pint or indeed a date. The atmosphere is very friendly and conducive to conversation and banter. The food is really really good. I had without doubt the best bangers and mash I have ever had. If you’re in Toronto and looking for a decent place to go for a pint and enjoy a great atmosphere, then this is the place. I can’t wait to go back.
