76 Close to the shore, surrounded by karaoke bars, Flintstones bar, Baywatch bar etc. Visited twice, all customers were British tourists upon both visits. 4 taps with beer from Golem, Radical Brewing and Septem. Slightly steep prices. Cats on the terrace, owner is well-known eccentric who gives good service but also tries to upsell you things. Old, terrible furniture and hoarder vibe. Interesting but works well given Paphos. Owner buys massive amounts of beer online and sells it, beer menu is huge & impressive, Oud Beersel I haven’t seen before, USA stouts, Alvinne from ages ago etc. Loads of stuff is 25 – 45 euro, pricey but it is there, all craft is pricey in Cyprus, definitely an interesting experience. |
86 Certainly a must visit in Paphos.
Superb bottle selection. Not much of Cypriotic ones but ones from overseas are spot on for us from Eastern Europe. On the other hand it might get bit pricey for us from Eastern Europe. The owner is great and can give you quite an advice. Very recommended |
76 The place is filled with character and looks like a beer hoarder's basement. The guy is also a character, maybe the mad scientist of bartenders. He refuses to stock most Cyprus beers because he says they're awful - that's not too much of an exaggeration. The one he did have was excellent. A necessary stop if you find yourself in Paphos. |
78 No longer the only place in Paphos with craft beer, but certainly the place with the widest selection. Limited selection of local craft beer and limited opening hours as it was winter and off-season. Didn't manage to try any new local craft beer here, but the imported selection was quite impressive. Cozy atmosphere and attentive and chatty guy running the place. Certainly worth visiting. |
84 Still seems to be the only place in Paphos with decent beer. Opening hours are very limited in the winter - in February the place only opens on a Sunday from 1 pm to around 6 pm. Selection is great and the owner is an amusing guy who knows his beer. Atmosphere reminded me of a down-to-earth English pub. |
90 The Old Fishing Shack Ale & Cider House - the best pub for beer and cider in Paphos district and quite possibly all of Cyprus - at least from what I’ve seen so far. Tucked away close to, but just far enough away from, the main tourist area, this is a gem for ale and cider enthusiasts. Paid the place a couple of visits whilst in Kato Paphos for a few days the first on my own when I spent a couple of hours chatting with the owner Athos about beer (and our respective beer bottle collections!) - he sure knows his stuff - and then as part of a small group. The ’shack’ is not particularly big, more space outside than in which for the Cypriot heat is better - but the inside is covered with beer paraphernalia so well worth a look. Athos offers a wide selection of different bottles from a multitude of countries including all the bottle producing Cypriot microbreweries, many from UK, Belgium also USA and many other European and wider world countries. Definitely a place I want to revisit, and on next visit also check out their bottle shop. Highly recommended. |
68 Locale in legno, calcio sugli schermi.
Proprietario competente ed attento.
Buona selezione inglese e belga, con alcune chicche.
Piacevole sorpresa. |
68 Only places in Paphos where you can find such a big selection. The pub itself seems more like a oldy woldy tourist pub but the beer is worth going in. Mostly english ales. Owner is super knowledgable and friendly and also has a massive selection of more harder to find beers, just ask him. |
88 Just returned from another visit to Paphos which just had to include another (daily!) visit to the Old Fishing Shack. The beer festival was on again (last weekend in Sept) and the range of beers had been amended/extended since our last visit. Still the same welcoming, friendly place, but Athos and Sue have added another string to their bow - they now have a shop selling a worldwide range of beers. It’s the Beer Sellar, at Anthipoohagou Georgiou Savva 34, Geroskipou, Paphos 8216. Well worth a visit - the pub AND the beer shop.
Found by chance - an oasis in the desert of Greek beer. Not a huge choice but a wide variety of European ales (including British); landlord and landlady friendly, welcoming and happy to talk beer. And they just happened to have a beerfest on when we were there, with tasters available. Loved it - anticipating next visit already. |
70 A good beer spot in Paphos, and there aren’t too many of those. At the outer edge of Kato Paphos, the Old Fishing Shack is mostly an evening place. They’ve got a range of British and German beers - if you’ve just flown in from one of those countries you might not get excited, but spend any time in Cyprus and you’ll really appreciate having a laid-back pub in which to drink good beer. |
