Visited on a calm Thursday afternoon in August 2014. The place is located arount 25 minutes walk from the center of town in a pleasant neighborhood.
The place itself was small but with an important thing, some very friendly and nice staff. (Hi Nick) Very knowledgable and fast service. Before ordering a beer I always got a sample, that’s a really great thing. They had 6 beers on tap in two sizes and a lot of interesting bottles.
I really liked this relaxed place. Another good thing was that they had information about coming beers, a thing that is not that common, at least not in Sweden.
A must place to visit in Brisbane.

Probably the bet of the new bars when I visited. Friendly staff, unpretenious atmosphere. Tap list is small, but well thought out and kept. Lots of bottle options.

Great neighborhood bar and very good for Brisbane. Definitely run by beer geeks but the crowd seemed more ’mainstream’. 5 taps on the go, all good stuff, and pricing is average to good ($6 for a 250ml Otways Black Pantha IPA). Staff won’t hesitate to pour a sample.

Got there by car, a ride from a friend (thanks Dallas!).
Ate at the Indian place right next door before going in. Or so I thought, there was a line to get in! A Sunday at 5.30 pm...
Didn’t have to wait that long though, perhaps 15-20 minutes or so.
Rather small place with indoors and outdoors seating. seems very popular.
The crew told me this was rather unusual to have such a crowd for a Sunday.
Black beer weekend when I was there, yay for me and my love for black beers!
To sum it up a little, small, crowded, very nice.
Serving crew was nice, friendly, fast and hard workers, and knowledgable about the beers.
I can see how this place is rated so highly and why I heard about it from others as a place I really needed to go to in BRisbane.
Going back I took the train to the city, but didn’t find the place where I needed to tap my card to pay for the trip, once in the city couldn’t get out since I hadn’t tapped my card to start with. If going by train and not a local, pay more attention to it than I did.

Definitely my favourite bar in Brisbane. Only place I can go to where I get to taste the beers before buying, and it doesn’t feel like you’re asking the staff to sell their grandmas. I have had some great beers on tap here in the last year - Nogne India Saison, Mikkeller Black Hole, Nogne Imperial Stout, Rogue Hazelnut Brown, Marin White Knuckle, the list goes on. Looking forward to 2013!

Been frequenting this place for months. A brilliant atmosphere with the right idea about beer. Awesome rotating kegs system, never seen a beer on tap in this place longer than 5 days straight, even if they have multiple kegs of the same beer. Average is probably 2 days for most kegs, sessionable ones blow a few times a night on the weekend. BYO food makes coming here a great change from most bars, and the selection is from over 100 beers apparently, and even if you get through most of those, they change a few frequently enough that there’ll always be something new to try on the menu.

The best vibe bar in Brisbane for me. Awesome vintage Blues and R n B, the REAL shit! Great tap rotation. Bottle selection a bit limited, only due to venue size. BYO food....yeah baby.

The staff provide samples of the beers as you are greeted on entry. A nice touch that ’breaks the ice’ and gets the punters chatting about beers and such. There’s four taps and 1 handpump, and often there will be a cider in the mix. Beers change over very fast, perhaps daily so there’s always something new on. I wasn’t too fussed on the bottle listing and usually look past it as there’s not too much new stuff available. There’s cheese plates and other snacks which can be ordered at the bar. The Scratch will probably rank at the top of beer bars in Brisbane and I like what’s being done here, a far cry from the lacklustre scene just a few years back. Having said that I wasn’t totally blown away from my numerous visits here - staff are good but really depends who’s on. Also it’s far from a dive bar as it gets referred to. Whatever, happy to see another decent option in Brissie getting behind the local craft.

A great new little bar that has only been open for about a month or so. Great service and atmosphere and a great place to mix with like minded beer nuts. I look forward to the range of events that they have planned for 2012. While the bottled beer price may appear to be a bit steep it is well worth it.

Food is just cheese platters, however you can BYO from any of the places surrounding it. Really good atmosphere, very friendly staff who know what they are about and will happily give you a taster of the tap beers. Pretty high level of tap rotation. It can get crowded on Friday Saturday nights - but that is because it is good. Now stocking Billy B’s for those needing an out-of-body experience. R&B and Jazz also occurs at frequent intervals - a top place.
