The Station Hotel situated close to Hither Green train station has been totally refurbished, now under new owners/management and reopened in the summer of 2012. From having hardly any choice in this part of SE London a few years back to now having plenty of choice round here it is a very welcome addition and is now one of my 4 current drinking establishments close to home. Firstly much like the The Lord Northbrook (also opened recently down the road in Lee), The Station Hotel appears to have undergone a large dose of "gentrification". The upmarket décor im sure will appear to many, but personally I find it abit to modern for my tastes, and bright (the lighting really is bright, almost blinding in the evening) so scores low in ambience from me. It does have though a good size patio beer garden for the summer months. But now onto the important stuff, where this place now really excels is the beer selection. It now has 11 Ale Cask pulls and 16 draughts (mix of lager/ciders) With the Ale selection you will not find cutting edge "craft scene" but you will find a great diverse selection of good brews from the likes of St Austels/Harveys/Sambrooks/Westerham/Fullers/Adnams and it does rotate allot. Have found it to all be in good condition from my experience, and friends have enjoyed the diverse tap cider selection (not the usual you will find) there is plenty of bottles as well but nothing much in the Ale department. Service is overall good but does get very busy at the weekends (could maybe do with more staff at this time as can be quite a wait) Food looks like your usual gastropub fare but i have not sampled so did not rate (will update later im sure) Overall a welcome addition to this part of SE London and worth a visit if down these parts.
