There's nothing better for me than fresh sausages. Sausages and local craft beer. So many options. I also suggest getting a side of baked beans. Superb. Really hit the spot. Good beer selection too. Great service. Indoor and outdoor seating options.

Located downtown they have entrances in both the front and back which means there's always a lot of traffic coming and going. I didn't get to partake any of the food but they had a pretty solid, very Maine heavy beer list. The bartenders were friendly and seemed to know a lot about beer. They made a couple of recommendations that were pretty tasty. It's not the biggest beer list in the city but it may be the among the most approachable.

Dropped in for lunch and a beer, stayed to hear the rest of the touring band’s set. Flavorful dogs and a consistently considerate draft list. What else could you possibly ask for? Not the most impressively large in terms of taplists go, but the draughts that they did feature were pretty well-thought-out. Price is typically the same in most of the downtown Portland beer bars. Doesn’t appear like it’s ever been especially crowded.

Cool place. A typical store front leads into the restaurant/bar and they also have a decent sized patio area, which was very nice on a summer day.

Not the biggest draft list in town, but they have really good prices and solid offerings, including some good stuff from Bissell Brothers that I didn’t see as much at other places (like Nothing Gold).

Food menu is sausage based, which is fine with me. Pretty good pricing on that as well, though we didn’t end up eating here.

I found this to be a really nice place. It’s probably not worthy of being a top place on anyone’s travel guide, but if you want a place to get a bite to eat and have some good beers in a nice atmosphere, definitely a winner.

This was what someone was talking about at Bissell. Said there was always great stuff on tap. That being said, it was a disappointment. There were a few beers on tap, but non of them looked to be that great. The smell was awesome. It seems their food expertise is in brats, and it smelled like it. The guy was friendly at the bar, but kept to himself most of the time. The prices were good, $4 for a pint or so. This wasn’t a bad place, I was just hoping for a bit more after what we’d heard at Bissell.

First stop in Portland and arrived late afternoon so only a few folks hanging out with a pint. I ordered a tasty chilli dog and pint. Happy hour sees $3 pints on selected pours. Good tap selection with 100% Maine breweries. The lady serving was very friendly and chatty. Nice homely vibe going on here. This is a cool joint for a beer and snack.

Great ambience, plenty of seating and the sausages are freaking awesome! The beer selection is top notch. I went during the week so it was quiet but I imagine it fills up on the weekend. Staff was also great. Really enjoyed the vibe of this place.

The Thirsty Pig is more of a sausage restaurant than a beer destination; but the sausages are so damn good! It can be found on Exchange Street, almost across from the entrance to Novare Res (See My Reveiw) and amid the hustle and bustle of the Old Port. It consists of a large single room strewn with tables, with booths along the wall. There is a small semi-circlar bar in the middle, where you get the grub. There is loud music blasting away - during my visit, the TV above the bar was running "The Big Lebowski." The beer selection was limited to 10 frequently rotating taps, but well chosen and included Long Trail, Gritty and the superb Rising Tide Zephyr. I enjoyed this place, because I love fresh sausages, which come in several varieties, and these are worth a visit. Just avoid the chilli relish or you will die. Great eats with decent beer. Not bad. The Thirsty Pig abides.
