50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 4/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 8/20
Disappointing restaurant/bar. Came in after 2 PM and only a snack menu was available. Good selection of drafts though served in standard pint glasses. A few local offerings from Three Notch’d and Champion, mostly standard stuff otherwise. Pretty slow and poor service, waitress disappeared towards the end, Travlr had to go into the kitchen to get her attention. Auto 20% gratuity added for parties of 6+, which I wouldn’t mind if service showed for it but it clearly didn’t. Can’t see myself returning here.

66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20
We came in to check it out and the lunch service had finished and snacks menu only. Had no issues with that and the snacks were tasty. Service was painfully slow and because we had a table of 6 (4 of us had only ordered a beer each), we were automatically taxed 20% - poor form. Beer selection was OK but not too adventurous. I have a feeling this would be a better late night spot with having a few drinks at the bar.

One of my favourite places on the Downtown Mall, not just for a pint, but also for lunch/brunch depending on whether it is a work day or not. Service has always been excellent in my experience, and reasonably knowledgeable. Good selection of beers, mostly local which is a bonus in my world, and the food is tasty. Really can’t go wrong here.

60 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20
There are about 5 bartenders, but it takes 20 minutes to get a beer. Hmm... Anyway, the draft selection is quite good, and well mixed, and the prices may be the best on the Downtown Mall. The food is good, and reasonably priced. There is live music 5 days a week. Closed on Sundays.

We had lunch here, just a few steps from the main drag. Sat on the small patio and watched the colorful crowds go by. Parking is challenging, but we managed. Food was tasty, mostly healthy and creative pub fare and sandwiches. They had a few beers we hadn’t seen at other places, plus one regional cider. Server gave us someone else’s check but quickly rectified it. Worth a look.
Second visit 2:30 on a Saturday. SAdly they were no longer offering their lunch items. Service was slow and inattentive. Mandatory 20% tip and no splitting the check. Pretty poor.

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite spots in Charlottesville. There’s now 20+ beers on tap, many of which are from the surrounding area. Rotating beers from Champion and Devils Backbone seem to be mainstays in a lineup that changes fairly often. The huge bourbon selection’s worth a gander too. This place somehow manages the admirable feat of being a place that you want to hang out in despite the fact that it’s always rammed with customers. I haven’t tried the food, but it looks excellent. Overall, a more than worthy way to spend your time if you’re visiting town.

I FINALLY made it to this place despite it being open for many months. This place is VERY popular so expect crowds. One the downtown mall, this is kind of a two-sided place with a long wooden bar on the right side. As the name implies, this place has a very extensive selection of whiskeys. The also have a good bottle selection of beer (as well as cider and wine) and a draft list full of locals and other craft beer (as well as Natty Bo, but that has to be expected). I ordered fries covered with sausage gravy from the late night menu, and it was quite tasty. Prices are good overall and parking is plentiful if you’re willing to spend a few bucks.
