74 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Shag (69) Chattanooga, Tennessee | July 4, 2012 A little bit off the beaten path in Decatur GA. I walked there from town but I don’t recommend it. This looks like a typical dive bar but it has a good selection of beer. There was some different stuff than Brick Store had. They even had a cellared beer menu! This was a nice little place and the staff was friendly. Overall a nice place. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (174) Durham, North Carolina | March 4, 2012 Nice joint in Decatur, visited with a bunch of local friends when the Brick Store was too slammed on a Friday. Long tables, kind of a rathskeller vibe with breweriana on the walls. Service was a bit off at times, but I’ll give it a semi-pass given that it was a crowded late Friday evening. Food was okay, but reasonably priced. Beer selection was pretty good, with a nice assortment of locals (enjoyed the Jailhouse Mugshot IPA), national craft, and a smattering of imports. I’d go back. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 NachlamSie (447) Tennessee | October 2, 2011 This is a cool neighborhood pub just a little ways from downtown. I ate a really good chicken sandwich with some of the best mashed sweet potatoes I’ve ever had. The ambiance is laid back. A ton of board games and books are available for some entertainment. I also really enjoy the fact that they only serve American beers. Sure there are good imports out there, but it’s cool to see someone stick to U.S. brews. It’s something a little different. They had stuff from Monday Night Brewing which is a little harder to come by. Tap list was pretty solid. I like this place. | 84 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 hopsdiva (13) Atlanta, Georgia | June 13, 2011 When you think of Decatur and beer - Thinking Man is not the first place to cross your mind, but this is a good neighborhood tavern that deserves to be more than an afterthought. They always have five rotating draughts of reasonably priced craft beer. The food is good and the menu features more salads options than most pubs. The vibe is very laid back and it’s a great place to hang out and have a few beers. And for beer geeks, upcoming events include a Victory tap takeover and a Dog "Fish Head" Days of Summer event June 21, 2011. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 jw0406 (30) atlanta, Georgia | May 1, 2011 Good neighborhood pub. Decent food and a pretty good selection of beers, and every once in a while they will have some great stuff. Great place to hang out and have a beer | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Caligulove (11) | June 6, 2010 Thinking Man is a good place to grab a good brew and chat. The jukebox is also pretty cool. Not on my regular rotation, but it’s fun for a change of pace. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 CheersMate (147) Fremont (Seattle), Washington | January 14, 2009| Updated April 13, 2009 Nice looking waitresses. In fact, one was featured in a Creative Loafing issue as being hot. She is a hot one I must say. There is another waiteress who is there, I believe she is new, but she is hot as well. To me, a single man, that is a plus. Their selection is decent, nothing like Brick Store Pub, but the prices compared to Brick Store are night and day. They actually do not markup their beers by 200%. They also have some nice Belgians, which the bartender (NOT HUNTER) seems to always think the ABV is higher than it actually is. Plus, I get a lecture every time I order about what the beer is and how it tastes (this again is from the bartender not the waitresses, and not Hunter). I home brew, and have nearly 400 beers under my belt, I don’t need a damn informative speech when I order a beer. That is my only complaint that one bartender who thinks he is a friggin beer prophet. As said earlier, the prices are nice. They did raise the prices within the last year, but that is all of the Atlanta | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 12/20 CatNorth (5) , Germany | November 1, 2007| Updated April 13, 2009 Not a bad spot overall. They’ve got lower prices on belgian beers than most places (St. Bernardus in bottle for $6.50), but low on the proper glassware. Worth an evening. | 88 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (142) Georgia | March 11, 2007| Updated March 24, 2012 A delightful neighborhood tavern with funky decor that lets you know it is a laid-back place where you can be yourself. Perfect for informal gatherings of friends, Meetups, or just dropping in for a crater or two. Convenient to MARTA - about midway between two rail stations, and on a bus line. |
