78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 Iphonephan (77) Virginia | April 11, 2013 A dozen changing beers on draft -- all interesting. A thousand bottles in the store that can be served with the bar menu. Outside seating in warm weather. Nice suburban option to the DC beer destinations. | 72 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 15/20 JDBaker11058 (29) Maryland | February 27, 2013 Selection: Biggest beer selection I’ve ever seen in a grocery store. Great selection of sixers and singles. Some stuff here I’ve not seen elsewhere in MD/DC/NoVA, including Maine Beer Co. Service: No real beer-related service to speak of because--hey--it’s a grocery store. Value: Prices are definitely on the higher end, especially for rarities. $8.99 per for a single 11.2 oz bottle of Mikkeller Milk Stout, holy crap. Notes: Not in my neck of the woods, but when I’m in the area I always stop by to see if there’s something I’ve been hunting for. Updated an old rating to reflect better selection. I noticed they also have a new beer garden, but I haven’t seen it in action. | 78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 13/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | November 3, 2012 At first I thought that this was the worst stocked grocery store I had ever seen. Then I realized their refrigeration system was out because of Hurrican Sandy. The beer selection, though, was amazing, and included two from Maine Beerand three from Clown Shoes, for instance. Very high prices, friendly staff. Attached cafe, which I did not try, was packed and the food looked good. | 50 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 1/10 OVERALL 4/20 rhartogs (11) Arlington, Virginia | March 8, 2012 Great selection and decent staff. However, the inflated prices here make impossible to justify coming here. Beers are between $1-$4 above local going rate.
| 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 Thorpe429 (58) , Illinois | September 1, 2011 All around, this place seems like it should be really great. They have plenty of high-quality beer as well as a purportedly-large keg selection. However, the few times I’ve been have been quite a bit of a disappointment, and I’ve had other service issues as well. On more than one occasion in the past I’ve tried to order a keg and been told that it would be in after a certain number of days. Without fail each time, the keg never ended up coming in.
After discussing the same keg with another local retailer, I discovered that this brewery does not deliver kegs to the area for retail sales. No big deal, but this is a big brewery and something a credible beer retailer should know about.
Other than the problems with information, I will say that the individuals I spoke with on each occasion were quite friendly.
The selection here is pretty good, but not mind-blowing. I saw the reviews and thought I would have to check out the selection. While it’s certainly above average for the area, I don’t see it being any better than Rick’s or most of the Whole Foods locations.
The pricing seemed on par with the rest of the area. | 96 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 JPSHop07 (11) Virginia | July 30, 2011 Westover offers the best of West Arlington. Since the addition of the beerhaus (7/28/11), they have taken it to the next level. One of the best beer selections in the area to buy in the market, and an excellent bar, deli, and outdoor beer garden to enjoy as well. Sandwiches and 10 taps to chose from inside at the beerhaus and I can’t wait until they get their permits in order to have music gigs again outside at the garden. If you are looking for a great beer selection, grocery shopping, and a friendly, local staff then this is the place. Great hang out, great beer! | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 BeerandBlues2 (458) Hanover, Maryland | December 12, 2010 I cannot tell if this is a beer store with groceries or a grocery store with beers. At any rate, they have a large, diverse selection of beer, many already broken out into singles. The prices seem average for the area, with no real surprises. The only service I got was at checkout, and maybe that was because this was a cold, damp Sunday afternoon. I would definitely stop by again if I were in the neighborhood. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 502F (47) ARLINGTON, Virginia | November 10, 2010 I just moved to DC and was pleasantly surprised to find Westover Market located a mere 3-minute walking distance from my new house. It is a nice little market with a very impressive selection. The only department its really lacking in is the lambic department. They have a nice little outdoor beer garden where they serve about 5 different draft beers, frequently rotating and usually very nice selections. They have fires going outside in the winter to keep customers warm as they watch one of the two large plasma screen TVs, or simply chat amongst each other over a few beers. A pretty laid back and friendly crowd of the middle aged generation. This is my new beer home, and I am quite happy with that. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 michael-pollack (100) King of Prussia, Pennsylvania | November 3, 2010 A grocery store with a cool outside bar area on weekends, adorned with a small bar and several fire-places. Service was average. Selection of bottles is very good. Tap selection was limited but strong. Good draft and bottle prices. I will be going back. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 4/10 OVERALL 17/20 ectuohy27 (21) , Estonia | October 21, 2010 Great find for me in the NoVA area (in the neato independent-based Westover neighborhood), as once the "beer in supermarkets" novelty wore off I began to miss the selections of NJ’s better stores....the prices are middling to fair but the selection is astounding for a neighborhood supermarket, with plenty more still to try |
