I love Wholefoods, and this one is one of the best ones I’ve been to. Super fresh store and a very good range of beer.

Interestingly, I found the selection here to be a bit light as compared to the Potrero hill location, but it is still a pretty decent place to find good beer at good prices.

This may be the most diverse bottle selection in SF. Prices are high but that’s in line with every other Whole Foods I’ve ever been to. It’s hard to find anyone that knows anything about beer to answer questions.

Sub par beer selection, that said I could have found some stuff worth getting, but really nothing jumped at me. Compounded with the fact that beer dude just came off as a shitty guy, not a great experience. Pretty much a pass in comparison to whole foods SoMa, not to mention the wonder that is Healthy Spirits or City Beer Store.

Beer selection here did not meet my expectations. A small, and very crowded Whole Foods. I was able to get some Blind Pig, and Pliny the Elder here, so that made up for it. I always have to have my RR Imperial/Double, and regular IPA "fixes" when I come out West. Go to the Whole Foods next to the Anchor Brewing Company, which is not listed here. At that Whole Foods you are hit with an array of awesome beers that aren’t offered at the one on California. Plus, if you are walking, California Street is the tip-top part of one of the many ridiculous hills in San Francisco. Decent selection here; you might find a few gems, but my advice is go to the Whole Foods new Anchor and you will be happier.

Found lots of good beer and they were all in the cold counter - ready to drink :) Bought Dogfish Head Aprihop (12 oz), Lagunitas 2009 Correction Ale (1 pint 6 oz), Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout (12 oz), New Belgium Mothership Wit (1 pint 6 oz), Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale (1 pint 6 oz), Stone Imperial Russian Sout (1 pint 6 oz), Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron (12 oz), Russian River Pliny the Elder (500 ml) and Schneider/Brooklyn Hopfen Weisse (500 ml) - all 9 for a total of 38 USD. That’s a real good value for a Dane like me. Lots of staff in beer and wine section and they knew about their selection.

Visited the California Street location and picked up 8 mainly local beers. Pretty good selection of the more easy-to-find beers in a nice display. I give them a big thumbs up for allowing me to split sixers, which increased my choices greatly.

I gave them a 5 for ambiance only because there is free parking, which is HUGE in this city. The bottle selection is good, but nothing amazing. Typical (but good) Belgians with a mostly West Coast selection. Nothing overly exciting though, I think I picked up 3 new bottles and none are going to be superhyped rare beers. Worth stopping if you’re in the area, not worth seeking out. Some of the finds I see below are pretty impressive, definitely nothing like that during my visit.
