78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 Denverdiv (12) Denver, Colorado | February 22, 2013 Went here on a day of in October 2012. Was the perfect day, not too chilly or cold. Sun was peaking out. Sat on the back deck and got a mild sun bath while sitting at the back bar "window". Their house IPA was quite good with a decent hop bite. Their brisket was well worth the drive. The baked beans were the best I have ever had - I usually hate baked beans! | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 Brouwerij (16) Boulder, Colorado | November 12, 2012 Small mountain restaurant/brewery with pleasant atmosphere. A dozen or so little tables plus a small bar, with some additional seating upstairs. They seemed understaffed, only one waitress that I saw. However they were relatively empty mid-afternoon, so it was not a problem. Service was fine, however I didn’t order anything to eat. Got to try five of their beers on a "flight" of 7oz samples for just $9. In addition to their beers, they also have a dozen or so (bottled) imported beers. I even got a quick tour of the brewing facility upon request, very cool! Their tap list may be a little lacking and some have mentioned slow service (I can’t attest to or refute this until I go during peak hours) but I don’t feel it deserves the low scores shown here. | 78 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 rougeau13 (67) Texas | April 21, 2011| Updated August 19, 2011 Cool hippyish kind of place that we happened to run into between Estes Park and Central City. The service was good, and the people were nice. The XXX barbeque sauce was AWESOME! Small draft selection, 4 were their own, but they were pretty good. Decent, if not large, bottle selection as well. | 28 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 1/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 7/20 adnielsen (325) Fort Collins, Colorado | October 13, 2010| Updated August 19, 2011 Only had three beers (the fourth was out) and the service was HORRIBLE. The beers were not good at all. Hippie place in a hippie town with shtty beers. | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 PaulUnwin (96) Pinellas Park, Florida | September 1, 2009| Updated August 19, 2011 I was there one afternoon and thought it was not a bad place at all. We got our food fairly quickly, the beer selection was good enough, and the staff, and owners were very nice. Even took my wife and I down to see the brewery. They smoke a lot of their food in a large oven, and it was excellent! | 56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 caesar (224) Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands | October 9, 2008| Updated August 19, 2011 Located in the beautiful village of Nederland (how fun that is :-)) lies this small brewpub. Small selection, mostly of their own beers, which are ok. Decent service. It’s not great, but the most fun was to visit Nederland. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 13/20 3fourths (1083) Vilnius, Lithuania | July 14, 2008| Updated April 20, 2013 Visited on a Sunday afternoon so the place wasn’t incredibly busy, but was still probably half-full with both drinkers and diners. Semi-rustic lodge/cabin/mountain atmosphere, small bar in the back that opens onto the wood deck which overlooks a small stream. The IPA was out when I visited but the pale ale was appropriately hoppy and bitter, overall well-made. Didn’t get any food but damn me if it didn’t smell great. Service was great and the crowd was mellow. No complaints from me about service or quality of the beer. Perhaps they ironed out the wrinkles they had when they opened. | 52 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 11/20 luckygirl (6) Boulder, Colorado | March 9, 2008 Must preface notes by saying I was up there for what might be their busiest day of the year: Frozen Dead Guy Days. So things might net out a little differently on a less-crazy day. Atmosphere was alright, a little cobbled together. Given plastic bakets to eat out of, plastic cutlery. Yucky. Beer list was pretty savvy. Bottle prices probably the fairest I’ve seen in my travels so far. Server was nice, attentive despite the mayhem surrounding him. Knowledgeable about the brews. Food was fair. Some interesting offerings, sauces for meats were pretty tight. Sweet potato fries were nice. Overall, it wouldn’t harken me up to Ned, but if I were in that neck of the woods and I wanted dinner, I’d choose it again. | 44 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD 3/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 8/20 Ernest (126) Boulder, Colorado | October 6, 2007 There’s good news and bad news. Bad news first: I ordered a cold plate of sausage, cheese, and apple slices. It took about 45 minutes to come, and this was early afternoon. Why? And it wasn’t good either...mild orange cheddar, pepper jack, and a lightly smoked cheese plus supremely bland slices of meat. I could bike down to Whole Foods and get better quality versions of every single thing on the plate. But the staff is quite nice, and there are other reasons to come here. Yeah, their house brew isn’t that exciting, but it’s not that bad. More interestingly, they have a small bottle list that includes St. Bernardus 12 among other neat choices. And they have a few cool wines and liquors as well (Springbank 10, anyone?). So, this place has definite potential. It’s a fairly new place, after all...things are probably still a little difficult. Definitely will revisit. | 26 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 3/10 SELECTION 3/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 5/20 Ratman197 (125) Arvada, Colorado | May 27, 2007 This place is a little overcrowded with too many tables in a small place, but the decor is interesting family dog theme. The service was slow and pitiful. It took 15 or more minutes to get our beers after we ordered them and had to ask twice to get a glass oif water. The beer selection was slim at 4 house brews, but they did have 5 or 6 guest taps. The food was,nt bad but what’s up with a BBQ joint where you can’t try more than one meat without ordering more than one meal? Where’s the combo platter? Overall it’s not really worth the trip up the mountain in my never to be humble opinion! |
