16 Worst service of a bottle shop I’ve ever been to. I walked in to the one room hole in the wall. The man behind the counter didn’t say one word to me despite my repeated attempts to talk and say hello. Very uncomfortable vibe and I couldn’t wait to just get my beer and leave |

The place is across from the Penn State campus, located in the basement of a corner building. The place is dimly lit, packed with college kids and the bathrooms are a mess. Thankfully, I am not here to make out with college kids or the urinals. They have about 30 taps of a mixed bag of PA beers and national craft beer, and 3 casks of local. They also have a decent laundry list of bottles for sale from 12oz to bombers that are decently priced. The bartenders are attentive and decently knowledgeable in the beers they carry. The selection is decent as gthey carry a wide array of different beers and they bouncers proof everybody. I will come back for the beer and the freakery. |
58 this place is a mixed bag. some good bottles, some boring. .. most fresh, a couple long gone .. very expensive for the most part .. ok for a quick mixed sixer but nothing i couldn’t live without.. |
50 A literal hole in the wall located on the main drag. They have a fraction of the stuff that Zeno’s has. Prices are expensive even by NYC standards. if you need a bottle shop in State College and you have a car Wegman’s is the only game in town. |
58 Hole in the wall bottle shop just up the block from the Corner Room. Used to be called something else before being renamed Zeno’s Bottleshop, though I can’t remember what it was. Really only for convenience, this place. The bottle selection is OK, but nothing like the bottle selection of the bar itself, which can be purchased for take-out. You’ll find just as good a bottle selection at Wegman’s. |
76 this is a hard one to judge. The bottle shop is a little one room place where there are a couple coolers and some beer on sleves, but then you have the option of also buying any bottles they have down in the bar. So the slection is great and the prices are a little cheaper, but the bar is worth seeing. |
70 I’m not entirely sure this location really warrants a separate entry, considering that it’s part of Zeno’s, is more or less at the same address and carries essentially the same stock. This is a tiny cubbyhole upstairs on the street that slings a few micros and imports along with plenty of Natty Light. The service is gruff, the selection generally less, and the single prices much worse than the 15% off "to go" discount you get downstairs. You can buy sixers of micros here, which is an advantage over downstairs. And it’s quick. |
