Nice interiors, nice sorroundings, wonderful schwarzbier. These are the reasons to go there,. I haven’t tasted their food, but looked nice.

Great place! The actual building is really nice, and very unusual, with obvious historic interest. Good service, really nice food, and two specially-brewed beers which really were quite nice, too. If you’re in Berlin, you really should have dinner here.

Reasons you should go here: (1) Location: it’s right in the oldest part of the city and convenient to many of the major sights. (2) History: With some fine print about restoration, the building is over 700 years old and a real gem. Lots of stories. (3) Ticks: Two beers are made exclusively for this place and can’t be had elsewhere. (4) Good traditional "Berlin" food, and some unusual items, including the house specialty I had tonight, a skinned and deep-fried pear crusted with an almond mix, filled with blue cheese, and paired with Preiselbeere sauce. Looking forward to the overspilling beer garden in the warmer months.
