Located in the heart of the tiny, cozy Nikolaiviertel, this restaurant is a nice place to stay and enjoy a break ehile visiting the town. Friendly service. Decent food, albeit in normal, i.e. non-German, portions and at prices which are somewhat higher than popular. Beers, including the two Kindl brewed for the location, are less expensive than the food, and the selection is acceptable for a restaurant in Germany. Worth a visit while beer hunting.

(Visited July 2014) Nice and cosy restaurant in the Nikolaiviertel. Nice interior, mainly in brown wood, with a nice and fairly large outdoor area. Friendly and efficient service. Beer selection is not too impressive, but they have two beers from Berliner Kindl Schultheis specially brewed for the restaurant. They’re average, but two ticks. And the food is really good, traditional German food in good portions. A bit touristified, but worth a visit if in the area.

Zur Gerichtslaube and the whole Nikolaiviertel area was restored to Berlin’s 750th anniversary in 1987. It had actually been a ruin since 1945. They did a great job and today the buildings seems to be from the Middel Ages. I liked the pub interior and the staff provided a nice and efficient service. Tasty soup too. The two house beers are listed under Berliner Kindl Schultheiss Brauerei at Ratebeer, but the waitress claimed that their beers were brewed at Schoppe Brau. Anyway, Berliner Schwarzbier was one of the best Schwarzbier I have ever tried. (Visited September 25th 2013)

Nice place. We went quite late at night and it was quiet and relaxe. Found Schoffenbier to be an unfiltered sweet and lightly hopped bitter and Berliner Black beer to be tasty with roast malt and very smooth.

Nice interiors, nice sorroundings, wonderful schwarzbier. These are the reasons to go there,. I haven’t tasted their food, but looked nice.

Great place! The actual building is really nice, and very unusual, with obvious historic interest. Good service, really nice food, and two specially-brewed beers which really were quite nice, too. If you’re in Berlin, you really should have dinner here.

Reasons you should go here: (1) Location: it’s right in the oldest part of the city and convenient to many of the major sights. (2) History: With some fine print about restoration, the building is over 700 years old and a real gem. Lots of stories. (3) Ticks: Two beers are made exclusively for this place and can’t be had elsewhere. (4) Good traditional "Berlin" food, and some unusual items, including the house specialty I had tonight, a skinned and deep-fried pear crusted with an almond mix, filled with blue cheese, and paired with Preiselbeere sauce. Looking forward to the overspilling beer garden in the warmer months.
