Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Golden-orange beer with nice white head. Aroma of fruit, spices, cake and some alcohol sweetness. Taste is soft with fruity hints and touches of butter-caramel, yeast and some hop-bitters in the end.

Bottle pours orange gold with a fluffy white head. Aroma is extremely yeasty with a background of granny smith apples, pineapple, honey, and what seems like lavender. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of pear, bread, and white pepper. Overall body is moderate and creamy with high carbonation.

750mL bottle. Rich, golden yellow in color with hints of yeast in the settling of the pour. Very ripe to the taste with a deliciously smooth aftertaste. This was my first time trying it, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Location: I have had this beer numerous times over the years at places such as RFDs and Capitol Ale House

Overall Impression: It is one of those beers that really got me interested in beer, and since I haven’t drank one in at least a year, I will have to go off of an old rating that isn’t from this site. Since I know I’ll be drinking this one again, I’ll be updating it at some point, but this will work for now.

(draught) pours very clear yellow with no head. Nose of tart pear and apple. Taste is alcohol, tart pear, apricot, apples and wheat grain. Finishes a little warm but very fruity.

750 ml caged and corked bottle, 2008 vintage. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a slightly hazy bright gold color with quite a bit of sediment, and also has about an inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. It smells like pears, apples, peppery spice, yeast, and some oranges. The taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like pears, peppery spice, bananas, and a bit of grain/bread and lemon. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a little slick and creamy and is well carbonated, but it has a bit too much carbonation for my liking. Drinkability is decent, but would be better if the carbonation was lower. Overall I thought this was a good enough brew.

Delirium in Götet, draft, 2007-06-06 AR: a bit sticky yeast, appelwine, AP: golden light bown body, mostly lasting chemical white head F:a bit sticky yeast, appelwine, white bakery syrup, medium bitterness Tested the first time in Belgium 2000 (bottle). Tapp is better but the bottle is very chic with the pink elephants!
