CanIHave4Beers (243), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Dec 1, 2008 The little booklet that came with this cracked me up, it’s almost worth it just for the silly booklet. Last night I "Found the Occasion Fitting" to crack this bottle which poured a considerably pale straw colour with a pretty loose but big white fluffy head, and just the slightest hint of haziness. Something about the color on this one was kind of scary, and the aroma wasn’t much to speak of either slight nose of grass and citrus with a little yeast. Nothing yet has made this brew particularly appealing, but I decided to take the booklets advice and "Drink Deeply" then I decided maybe if I didn’t drink it too deeply it might taste better, a shallow drink is about the same. This is fairly bland but totally unoffensive. All of the flavors are in line and work well together, there’s just not that many of them. There is certainly some citrus, a little yeast, a mild hoppiness, and a grainy malt flavor. In fact this reminded me of a really light version of a Dortmunder, so it’s heart is in the right place.
I don’t know If I’ll be picking this one up again as I now have the booklet, and the beer gave me no hint as to why this would be "The only truly Royal Lager"
nbutler11 (303), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 26, 2008 Pours a warm golden color from the bomber with steady carbonation and a creamy white head. Smells and tastes of watery citrus and skunky yeast. Fuller in body than expected, but nothing I’d export. junon (154), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Oct 21, 2008 Ill agree that there seems to be a medley of fruit flavors. Smells like acai and pineapple. The taste reminds me of a dry white wine and it does fade fast. I was not looking forward to this and to be honest quite tired of these import Lager/Pilsners. This one is kind of interesting though. Wulfstan (481), California, USA Sep 5, 2008 This is a pretty good, basic lager. It’s golden with a small-medium, dense white head that slowly shrinks and leaves a hint of lace. The aroma is light grain, apple and pear with a hint of hay. The taste is sweetish pear and grain with hints of apple and hay and a light grassy & apple-peel bitterness. It’s pretty standard, but also pretty good, pleasant, and clean with the flaovur being light but persistent. CaryTheDude (489), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Sep 3, 2008 I’ve gotta make it through a whole bomber of this crap. Not looking forward to it. Stingy but at least the flavor doesn’t last long.
