Pours a dark brown hue with a mostly dissipating tan head. Nose is subtle but rich malts, caramel and peat mostly. Flavor has more malt presence than expected, nice tones of caramel, grain, peat, toffee, slight grassy and floral/earthy hops for balance, light alcohol warming in the sweet malty finish. Medium body, average carbonation, slick texture. A malty scottish ale that lingers between the schilling and wee heavy styles, good balance and extremely quaffable even at 7.7%

12 oz. bottle- Pours almost black with a thin head, aroma is of malt, the flavor is the same, malty and somewhat similar to a porter. A little unimpressed with this one, probably the worst Great Divide brew i’ve had.

12oz bottled on FEB 17 2009--thank you markwise for the bottle! Clear deep deep ruby with a one finger creamy beige taupe head, fair retention. Sweet caramel (bordering toffee) and toasty malts up front with some light raisins and spicy alcohol behind. Flavor tones back the caramel/toffee sweetness a bit, giving the toasty malts and alcohol room to shine, as well as dry this out. Letting this warm up a bit allows for a bit of leather. Like I said, dry finish with a little roast, bitterness peaking at a 2. Medium-full smooth body with light carbonation. Definitely one of the better Scotch/Scottish ales in recent memory--some smoke/peat would’ve made me even happier.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights. Light-medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Malty nose. Flavor is malty caramel and dark fruit. Bottle from jessup plaza. Poured a dark brown color with a nice medium head. Aroma is of chocolate, some oak and slight fruit. Taste is nice and smoky with tons of oak and chocolate. This is tasty!

Bottled@Oliver Twist, Stockholm (thanks to the guys from Ölfrämjandet who shared some beers with me). Ambery brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma is leather, toffee, caramel malts, plum and wood along with some fruityness as well. Flavour is quite much the same with the leathery notes being rather dominating. Yet very easy to drink.

12 oz bottle. Poured a super deep ruby red, almost brown, with an average size slightly fizzy beige head. Aroma ha lots of earthy malts, burnt toffee, peat and alcohol. The body is slightly thin with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is earth, chocolate, prune, plum, peat and stale toffee. Not bad at close to $11 a 6er this one is on the expensive side.

Bottle. Man aroma is like heated chocolate topping on icecream. Also some sweetener on the nose. Mahagany red body with beige head. Dry coco, roasted nuts sweet malts give is med/rich body texture. Smooth on the palate. Good brew.
