Commercial Description:
Think of it as a hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put any lemon in it. 6.4% ABV.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small beigh head. Aroma of wheat, caramel, faint banana and has a hint of cloves. Flavor was sweet malts, dark caramel, banana, wheat and had some nuttiness with a medium body and finishes clean and dry.

Reddish amber color with a tan colored head. Puffed wheat and caramel corn nose, with a hint of something tangy. Over ripe bananas, cloves, Super Sugar Crisp cereal and a caramel sweetness. Nice balance and light for a dunkel. Very tastey beer.

THOUGHTS: Nice beer, but a little flat and bland for the style. Perfectly fine and easy to drink, but nothing special. It was kind of like American cheese and white bread. It’s fin, but I’d rather have Gorgonzola and pumpernickel. A little too much weizen and not enough dunkel. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy at first and then muddy with the yeast, light to medium orangey brown with an average to large, off-white head that mostly diminished and didn’t leave much lacing. The aroma was light to moderate grain, straw and milk chocolate; light to moderate yeast; banana, bubble gum, hints of cherry; lemon and wheat. The initial flavor was sweet, acidic and lightly sour; while the finish was sweet, acidic and slightly bitter with an average duration. There was milk chocolate, wheat, a little citrus and yeast. The light to medium body was a little oily and a bit syrupy and then dry. It was sticky on the lips with fizzy carbonation and a slightly astringent finish.

Bottle at Brickskeller, where it was served to me with the single dirtiest glass I’d ever seen in my life. Disgustingly grimy. I sent it back and they attempted to tell me it was "water spots." Hahaha. No, it was fucking grime assholes. I will never go back to the Brick: the filthy glassware is only the first of many problems. Anyway, as for the beer, it pours a cloudy brown, or at least appears cloudy in my dirty glass, but that may just be the grease. Lots of dried banana chips in the aroma, some cocoa, not very complex. Bright body, mild hop, mild yeast, mild malt. Just mild all around. Balanced but indistinct.

Pours amber, medium offwhite head. Aroma has some funk, yeast and syrupy sweetness. Nice mild flavor, some maltiness, strong yeast. Fairly smooth drinking, some spice. Decent, but not my favorite.
