Draught at Cafe ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam on 20th March 2009. Handsomely black with pale brown/offwhite creamy head. Absolutely exquisite! Subtle smoke augmenting a rich roasted taste with spicy notes. Fully deserving of a mark above 4.

Brown to black coloured, creamy head, dense, with reasonable much carbonization, also in the head. Head stays dense in thr glass for a long while. In the nose there’s roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. There’s also chocolate and a kind bitterness when tasting, also coffee. Reasonably long finish.

From tap at In de Wildeman. Very dark brown with a lacing, creamy, tan head. Complex, lightly smoked malts aroma. Smoked malts flavours, some salty meat notes. Almost a rauchbier.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 2 Aug 2009) Dark brown colour, almost black. Creamy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate and dark bread. Slightly closed. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and a touch of liquorice. Dry coffee bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, very dry. Well balanced. Nice beer.
