Commercial Description:
Limited release. Swimming in a fresh water pool at the base of a cascading waterfall is what we all imagine we would find in paradise. On Maui, follow the old Hana Highway and you will find such a place – Wailua Falls. This plunging cascade of clear water is the inspiration for our Limited Release Wailua Wheat. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit we brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise anytime.

Editor's Note: Lilikoi Wheat was renamed to Wailua Wheat (both on draft and in bottle).

Very small white head with moderate carbonation. Presents a nice deep golden color. Taste of corn and reminds me of fresh papaya. Not too sweet and very enjoyable. After a while, the carbonation is quite reduced and the beer loses some of it’s qualities.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz, long neck bottle into a pint glass. The bottle has a “bottled on date” of 060409 notched into the label. Appearance: The body has good clarity and a nice golden color. It builds up a tall white head full of big loosely packed bubbles that quickly fade out. This only makes for a very little spotty lacing. Smell: The aroma is pleasant and has a little bit of sweet fruity mango and papaya like notes with a light grainy base. Taste/Palate: Its flavor is very close to what you would expect from its aroma. It is sweet overall and has a pleasant hint of tropical fruitiness. The finish is sweet as well and there is no balance from hops. It’s not overly sweet in my opinion but there is very little hop flavor at all. Notes: My overall feeling is that it is easy to drink, somewhat interesting and would have to say that I like this beer. I think this would be a great beer for non-beer drinkers or just people who don’t like bitter beers.

Bottel on 6-17-09 Pours crystal clear with a yellow to golden color with a med white head that lingers but just a little. Refeashing crisp and fruity but would lose apeal in the fall. Overall reminds me of a lite lager with fresh fruit flavor. Not bad but not great either.

25th June 2008. Really not that fruity and also a little watery. A real let down this - was hoping for somethiing with more flavour than this.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Pale gold color with a frothy, white head. Poor head retention. Aroma: Slightly fruity (the passion fruit I am guessing), light (very light) wheat notes, and not much else. Rather light overall. Flavor: Odd fruitiness (the passion fruit), some citrus, a bit of paper, and a touch of wheat. A bit on the uneven side as it doesn’t quite come together. Palate: Medium carbonation with a light mouthfeel and an odd, fruity finish that seems to stick around. Overall: Not the best wheat or fruit beer for that matter. Not recommended.

A gift from a friend coming in from out west. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a pale yellow-golden color with a small white head. The aroma was tangy passion fruit with a perfumey undertone. The flavor was dryish and tart with a fairly strong and distinct passion fruit element. The finish was tangy and fruity. Medium body. Odd but decent.

Wheat and dry tangy fruit in the aroma. Light cloudy color with a small white head. Light beginning getting sweeter in the middle and fading in the finish. Light palate.
