Commercial Description:
August Schell Snow Storm is a limited edition beer produced each year for the Holiday Season. Snow Storm was created in 1994 as a way for our brewmaster to be creative in brewing different styles of beers. Each year brings a different beer, ranging from fruit flavored lagers to rich dark alts. The 2006 August Schell Snow Storm is a style rarely seen in the U.S., a London-style sweet stout. If you love coffee and chocolate, you’ll love our sweet stout. We used only the finest malts imported from Great Britain. Sure, it might cost a little more, but we’re certain you’ll agree it’s worth it.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown/black with a frothy tan head that has great retention and very nice lacing. Aroma is heavy on the chocolate and roasted malts. Smells nice and smooth. Flavor is rich and roasted with a very nice underling hint of chocolate. I really like this. It is easy on the palate while being big enough on the palate to compete with bigger beers. This is a very approachable stout and, dare I say it......a gateway stout....wtf?

On tap at mnagoo’s as Scell Stout. Dark and slightly cloudy, not much for hea but compatred well to my benchmark, Stormking. Not so much hops but enough and lots of smoke and molasses. Alittle on the high side for carbonation

Had this brew at G.A.B.F. 08’. Aroma is light with just a hint of roasted malt. Color is black with a tight tan head. Flavor is an easy mellow roasted flavor that comes on a light/medium body. Its just too mellow and light.

Ugh....this is absolutely awful. If there wasn’t a Penguin game on while I was drinking this it would be a drainpour. Aroma was weak. Cereal and roasted malt. Pour was a nasty deep dark brown with no bubbles and no head. Taste was very thin and flat. No carbonation and very little taste. A hint of roasted malt and sugary coffee. The lack of carbonation makes it taste like a cup of coffee that has been put in the fridge and added a cup of water to it. Double blah.

Dark brown/black in color with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate and burnt coffee. At first all I could taste was the burnt coffee finish. But the flavors rounded out as the beer warmed. Nutty chocolate flavor on the front end with a slight roasted coffee finish. A little thin but not bad.
