Lonerider Brewing Company Reviews

Lonerider DeadEye Jack 4.2
Poured from the can from tavour. Nice thick creamy head. Aroma is nutty, chocolatey. Some roasted grain. Iíd say nutty to balance is the dominant flavor here. Palate is medium bodied, sparkley carbonation. Overall not bad, pretty good.

Lonerider Sweet Josie 3.7
Draft. Roasty toast aroma. Flavors are of mocha kissed by orange, with a mild suggestion of honey and coffee. The little bits of orange and honey sweetness add wonderful complexity.

Lonerider Sweet Josie 3.5
Grabbed a 6-pack of this while in the Asheville area over the holidays. This reminded me somewhat of our Maduro brown by Cigar City here in FL. Malt is a little more roastier and heavier on the chocolate. Almost like a malta. Semi-creamy texture. I would look out for this one again.

Lonerider Raleigh Beer Week Belgian Strong 1.9
Canít say I liked it. It resembles the style, but feels very thin for something that is called a strong, dark ale. Tastes boozy, but isnít particularly strong in any other flavors. A bit medicinal and flat, hints of butterscotch. Almost no bitterneess. Iíve liked other things from lonerider, especially their seasonals, but this one was a dud for me.

Lonerider Brew It Forward Schwarzbier 3.6
Dark brown pour with a large tan head. The aroma is classic schwarzbier with roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. The flavor is fairly dry with some cocoa, roasted malt, burnt grain and a bit of cream. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This one has held up well.

Lonerider DeadEye Jack 3.9
Pours dark deep brown with a tan head. Aroma is roast, molasses and malt. Taste is the same, roast, molasses, dark chocolate, malt, slightly earthy. Thick and rich. Chewy. Excellent beer.

Lonerider Cowboy in Black 3.8
Bottle shared @ final old style THT. Opaque black color, medium to full sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, hops, dark malts mixed with hops perfectly. Taste malts, hops, roast, bitter. Average to medium body and carbonation. Lovely, although I like the aroma better than the flavor and I would have liked it to be a little more viscose. Nevertheless, a pretty beer.

Lonerider The Hops You Rode In On 3.2
Draught at Vancouver Craft Beer Week 2015
Hazy golden color. Aroma of cereals. The mouthfeel is smooth but too weak, the malt flavor is light, with traces of butter, and there is not much to say about the hops.
Just a light Pale Ale. Very simple.

Lonerider Peacemaker Pale Ale 3.8
Nice pale ale. Malty without being sweet. Perfect hop balance with excellent flavor. No overpowering aroma like some. Crystal malt is noticeable yet blends into hops on the tongue. I like this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lonerider Red Spur 4.3
Pounder: Pencil shaving, caramel, thistle, and pine bouquet. Clear rust, thick tan head, good lacing. Oak and pine, malt. Medium body, soft carbonation. Good malt balance for what is a well hopped beer.

Lonerider Hoppy Ki Yay 3.3
Can. Muted orange color with a rollicking head. The aroma is similar to sweet biscuits. The flavor is interestingly malty, but has the requisite fruity-hoppy flourish to call itself an IPA I guess. (#6079, 12/18/2015)

Lonerider Hoppy Ki Yay 3.4
From the bottle from tavour. Just a bit cloudy. Thick frothy head. Aroma is mildly floral, however no farts are noted. Flavor is slightly citrusy, slightly piney, but strongly malty . But just doesn?t seem to have a complexity that would be nice.

Lonerider The Hops You Rode In On 3.1
Pours clear amber with a fairly thick and frothy eggshell head. The sample I got had a bunch of tiny goobers floating in it, but that must be a function of that particular batch. Aroma presents hoppy and subtle citrus tones. Flavor is typically hoppy with citrus and even floral tones in supporting roles. Body is average and fizz is lacking, but it goes down the hatch nicely. Hop on board.

Lonerider Peacemaker Pale Ale 4.1

Lonerider Double Sweet Josie Brown 3
red medium brown. aroma tobacco slight tart. Tastes sweet slight choco slight bitter finish. tastes coconut, woody, slight tart. long tobacco draw. moderate carb. punchy sweet and bitter at the same time - unbalanced watery body. A brown ale for people who donít actually like the medium body of real browns.

Lonerider Addieís Revenge 3.2
Can. Pours clear golden with a thick, if not persistent, pale buff head. Aroma presents hoppy and tangerine tones. Flavor is not strong, but hoppy and tangerine tones are pleasing. Mouthfeel features good body and fizz, leaving a resiny hoppy finish. Bitterness is minimal, while the tangerine note continues as it heads downstairs. Not too shabby, Addie.

Lonerider Hoppy Ki Yay 3.9
Floral aromas. Same floral and tropical notes on the front. Smooth middle and a hoppy finish. I really enjoyed this beer good bitterness that left you wanting more. I got no off flavors like other people got. (Pour from a can)

Lonerider Pistols at Dawn 3.4
Pours a dark chestnut brown color that appears black and opaque in the glass with a half finger beige head that immediately settles into a thin ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Sweet and roasted malt aroma with silky chocolate, roasted coffee bean, oatmeal, toffee and burnt toast. Very inviting nose with a nice balance of roast and sweet chocolate malt notes. Lighter bodies than expected and slightly watered down with a balance of sweet and roasted malt notes. Subtle alcohol presence but not too hot. Some sweet chocolate flavor but could be more smooth/silky. Hints of toffee, oatmeal, coffee and burnt toast but not too roasty. A bit dry but not harsh or acrid. Well balanced but doesnít quite live up to the nose.

Lonerider Tres Vaqueros 3.2

Medium body, sticky creamy mouthfeel, sweet finish with abv heat. Itís good, not sure Iíll have another, maybe if weíre in a bottle is have it at home. I like the aroma best, flavor kind of dominated by barrel, finish kind of hot, fine overall,

Lonerider Peacemaker Pale Ale 3.6
12 oz. can into a chalice Best by 12/24/2015 A: A gentle pour still yields a half inch of fine tight tan foam that lingers for several minutes and also laces thickly. Dark gold to pale orange color. Crystal clear but fine sediment is visible in suspension. Great looking beer! S: Malty toffee with just a light hint of citrus. Orange zest. Aroma very light overall but the beer is very cold. T: Citrus and pith bitterness upfront with a slight juiciness. Malt backbone just noticeable and gives a little balance. M: Body is lighter side of medium and frothy but not overly so. Pretty short but clean juicy finish. O: This pale ale has many negative reviews but I think itís pretty good. Local (to me) brewery means itís widely available, usually very fresh and never terribly expensive. All this adds up to well worth purchasing IMO and recommended.

Lonerider Tombstone Reserve 3.8
16oz can I picked up at "The Wink" in Richmond, pours a deep black with lots of frothy, tan head. Nose has some chocolate, lots of grain actually, bread, burnt toast, yeast, caramel, a little vanilla. Not a ton of barrel character. Flavor follows, a nice malty character, toast and molasses, mild chocolate, a little rootbeer. Whereís the big barrel. Smooth finish, just a touch sweet maybe,

Lonerider DeadEye Jack 4.1
Dark and rich porter. Depth with flavors of chocolate, malts, earthy leather. About half inch head in glass and slow to reduce. Balanced creamy, sharp, refreshing. Great finish no hoppy taste and mild bitterness. Was really impressed with this beer. Hard to find even in cooler months in Raleigh area.

Lonerider Sweet Josie 3.2
Amber to medium dark. Slightly hoppy finish. More full bodied than other browns. Draft is rich. Changed a year ago from bottle to can at local stores and not the same. Mistake. Good overall but suggest Big Boss Bad Penny for local Raleigh brown ale.
