Fat Headís Brewery & Saloon Reviews

Fat Headís Super Juicy JuJu 4.2
Had about a week ago on draft in pgh location. The aroma was very tangerine filled and there was a good dankness from the hops. The flavor reminded me of an orange tic tac with a hop punch. The abv was kindly masked from the all of the ingredients. The finish was rather nice, not overly sweet but it had a nice tangy aftertaste. Overall it was very drinkable brew and a pleasure to try.

Fat Headís Bean Me Up 2.3
Listed as an American stout at bowsers. Coffee brewed aroma. Not pitch black but it is as dark as lighter root beer. Quite strong on the uptake. Perhaps there is a little whiskey in my coffee. Not over the top like the imperial version. Not bad overall, I find it a tad more acceptable than the higher alky version. Touch of chocolate on the finish.

Raisins and figs punch you in the face. They mask the high alcohol content perfectly. Little malty feel left after the fact. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fat Headís / Big Bottom Heads or Tails Sour Saison 2.6
A very strange aroma, maybe some grains of paradise, some sort of seed? It has an off sourness to it. A whatever beer.

Fierce acetone on the nose with some citrusy orange to back it up. The alcohol volume is particularly apparent. I prefer the double by a long way.

Fat Headís Sunshine Daydream Session IPA 3.8
Bottle. Golden-orange with great clarity but almost no head. Snappy aroma: tangerine peel, grass, just a bit of sweaty funk. Flavor kicks off with a similar blend of grass, citrus and garlic; pine needles rise mid-palate and carry through to a bitter, dry, saltinelike finish. Very clean, very crushable.

Fat Headís Up In Smoke Smoked Porter 3
Location: Sample on tap at Brass Tap Polaris Appearance: Inky black with a thin head of medium sized off white bubbles Nose: fairly decent hardwood smoke. Present but not overpowering. Darker toasted malt notes. Taste: Different. Unctuous and a bit oily. Definite smoke. There was an odd aspect that reminded me of smoked salmon. Solid medium to darker malt. Just a bit of hops at the back. decent bitters. Body: Medium fluid. Parting thoughts: the connection with smoked salmon is one that will linger. Itís not bad, itís just really strange.

Fat Headís Battle Axe Baltic Porter - Bourbon 3.4
An overwhelming aroma of bourbon. Bourbon taste hits the tip of your tongue and burns the back of your throat. Not as strong as the aroma suggested. Not much cocoa, or nutty flavors. Some imperial bite, but more of a Nice boozy sensation, but a little disappointing overall. Color is dark black brown. Tap.

Fat Headís Pineapple Express Head Hunter IPA 3.7
On tap at festival
A nice IPA doesnít quite live up to regular Head Hunter. Even so its tropical aspects brighten the mood of a dreary northeastern Ohio winter afternoon. As long as Fat Headís keeps up this level of quality they will have no problems keeping a high profile.

Aroma / Appearance - A cloudy caramel body emits waves of malt soaked pineapples and resin.

Flavor / Palate - Pineaple, musty paper, and other dank aspects give this a little bit of an odd twist on the profile I was expecting. The pineapple mostly works; occasionally it falls just short. Iíd love to give this one another chance on tap at the tasting room.

Fat Headís Super Juicy Hop Juju 4.2
Enjoyed this one at Dougís house on March 30 as part of an IPA tasting that spiraled out. From a growler that Doug hand poured a couple days back. The pour is a dark golden orange, crystal clear with a ring of off white head and no lace. The aroma is spectacular. There is a ton of orange juice right up front. I feel like there is just a weirdly colored orange juice in this glass, itís amazing. There is a bitter orange peel going on and a bright bitter hoppiness toward the end. The juice is great. The flavor is definitely more bitter than juicy. Much more bitter than the nose would lead on. There is definitely a lot of orange rind in this one, and the flavor is a testament to that. Itís really good. The mouth feel is a little syrupy, but itís well carbonated and finishes juicy and great, with a lingering bitterness from the rind. This one is a gem.

You can really smell the blue berries in this wonderful beer. The aroma is the best thing going for this beer A little carbonated with a deeper yellow tone, this beer goes down smoothly. You can taste the berries a little bit and can feel the bubbles on you toungue. Over all you could drink a six pack of this beer. Would be a nice summer beer!
