Half Acre Reef Knot
On tap at The Beer Cellar-Glen Ellyn, IL. as a 9 oz. serving to a snifter, showing a clear & bright, light golden color, with a presentable layer of white froth to a persistent ring, and doily-like ribbons of lacing. The nose was soft, wheat-like malt, slight noble spice, and subtle touches of ripe dried fruit & lemon. Medium bodied, the taste followed similarly, with decent carbonation, light grassy & earthy bitterness, and a bit of dryness to the finish.

Half Acre Pony Pilsner
Pint can. Pours a mostly clear dark gold color with a big sudsy white head that has good retention. The aroma is mild with grains, bread dough and grass. The taste is rye breads, spicy herbs, and a trace of white fruits. Bitterness is moderate and provided by spicy noble hops--saaz i presume, but there could be others present. The palate is clean and crisp with lively carbonation. Finishes long with lingering spicy herbs. Overall: Decent pils

Rate number 7900! Woo-hoo! Can from Downer Wine. Pours light brown with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Probably more sourness on the tongue than strawberry which is a relief because I find strawberry cloying so this is an improvement. Finished clean.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Clear pinkish pour. No lasting head. Mild ethereal strawberry and cream flavor. Not too sweet or tart but still certainly both. Feels mostly artificial but not cloying. Fainter notes of lemon and cherry. Easy drinking but feels throwaway.

Half Acre Catch Hell - Triple Barrel (2024)
12oz can, Stout Week line share, 2/18/24. Dark, inky, viscous, no head. Nose has pieces of the cinnamon and vanilla but they are supplementary to the main force of malt and barrel, thankfully. Big and rich with deep, dark spice, and a surprising mellowness for its recent release. Lots of pepper, toffee and dark choco-cinnamon lingering. Soft, rich, thick, lightly syrupy but not horribly sweet nor boozey. Cinnamon complements the bourbon and vanilla isn't overdone. Rich malts, spicy bourbon, great balance. This one shows, I think, that bigger can sometimes be better.

On tap at the 25th Annual Chicagoland Brewpub & Microbrewery Shootout held at Half Acre Beer Co. served to my logoed fest glass, showing a hazed, light gold/straw color, with a presentable layer of white froth, and spots & strands of lacing. The nose was soft malt, light citrus & dried fruit. Light to medium bodied, the taste was similar notes, with lively enough, seltzer-like effervescence, and some citrusy bitterness. Decent enough food pairing vehicle.

On tap at The Beer Cellar-Glen Ellyn, IL. as a 9 oz. serving to a snifter, showing a fairly clear, golden hue, with a decent layer of soft white froth, and spray-like cling to the band of lacing. The nose was dank and a bit resinous, with good malt content, esters as citrus, dried pit fruit, and just a touch of tropical vibe. Medium bodied, the flavor notes offered similar expression, with good carbonation, and a citrusy, resinous, and light rind-like bitterness that lingered a bit. A steady, uncomplicated IPA.

From Good Times Oakland, canned December 6th 2023. It pours a clear pale gold with a finger of very long lasting foam, good lacing. The smell is some tropical fruitiness up front, grapefruit, some pine. Oh,I see some floaties; I didn't expect that from a ~1 month old beer. Taste matches the smell but the floaties, sediment at the bottom of my glass is a turnoff. Mouthfeel is good.

Half Acre Benthic - Vanilla
Backlog 9/13/2020: 2019 can shared. Thanks Jon! Pours a thick, pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates. Big vanilla focused nose with milk chocolate, prune and brownie aromas. More dark chocolate on the palate some coffee, loads more vanilla and nice prune and cacao nib on the backend. Balanced and leans kind of dry on the finish with the vanilla still out in front. Not a pastry sugar stout bomb by any means. Great balance with a chewy fudgey body.
