Wye Valley Daisy Duke
Cask conditioned at Barrels in Hereford. Gold with white head. This proved to be quite a thin, malty, sweetish beer, nothing off or bad just really quite bland and flavourless. Not great.

Wye Valley The Hopfather
Cask conditioned at Barrels, Hereford. Amber with white head. This is quite a smooth beer, toffee, caramel, malty. There is a sweetness, along with a yeasty bready note. Not particularly hoppy in my view, perhaps some leafy notes. It’s okay.

Cask pint in the Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire on 17th July 2016. Golden bodied with a white head that lasted and gave some impressive lacing. Very dry finish to this fairly bland blend that had no real taste, flavour or oomph.

Wye Valley Butty Bach
Bottle from the Co-op, says it’s bottle conditioned but I couldn’t see any true in there. Pours a bright golden-amber with a thin white foam, a little caramel and sweetcorn on the nose. Malty sweet at first, then with a dry, faintly dusty edge. Light bitterness and a hint of toasted caramel in the dry malty finish. A pleasant quaffing bitter, that probably would have been a golden mild back in the day!

Wye Valley HPA
50cl bottle from Marks & Spencers, Camberley. A pale straw coloured pour with no head; musty citrus aroma; some life in the mouth with a lemony citrus taste and a grainy body; and a light grassy bitterness to finish. A rather uninspiring pale ale.

Wye Valley Tap In Ale
Cask conditioned at The Wellington, Birmingham. Gold with white head. Thinnish beer, malty with a slightly earthy tone, some bitterness, some fruitiness but all a little over restrained. About as successful as a Sterling dribble and cross. Just okay.

Very, very pale. Any paler and it would be water. Not a huge aroma and the initial flavour is a sourness which mellows into gentle dry malt. Not over-blessed with flavour or finish but this is nonetheless a pleasant and refreshing beer with no real vices.
