Tart, lemon, pale malts, lots of character from the fermentation, with sourness, fruity and light wood even. Delicious! But the taste is even better. Fruity sourness, lots of character. Yummy yummy. Pushing amazing amounts of flavours and still fresh and drinkable. Highly underrated, in my opinion. As a side note, was this what those American thought of when they started their saison reimagination? Because most are more similar to this BFM beer than a Dupont Saison. (33cl bottle from Etre Gourmet)

A 250ml pour on tap of the 2014 vintage at Moeder Lambic Fontainas into a Moeder Lambic snifter glass. It was a slightly hazy dark amber brown colour with a one finger tanned head with good retention and nice lacing. Aromas are tart with plum, cherry and oak. Tastes sour, tart, balsamic, plum, cherry, oak, lightly medicinal plus hints of grape bubblegum sweetness. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, very nice! A bit boozy and a little sweet but still delicious.

On tap at Erzbierschof. Deep red in colour, and some fruit, bread and vinegar for the nose. Flavour is huge and complex. Definitely some red wine notes, some yeastiness and a hugely sour finish. This is what I would imagine drinking really good red wine vinegar would be like if I didn’t already know that would be awful.

Flavour of white grape, lime zest, oak, bread and a sour lemon finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. 0.33l swingtop bottle. On my way from the kitchen to my living room it wanted out of the bottle. No gush, but a slow stream. The beer itself is a deep dark brown one with a little reddish hue and a small dark grey/brown top. A bit low on the nose perhaps. I get a good amount of sweetness here. Sugary dark knekk sweetness with chocolate, sour red currants and some yeast. It has a soft oily almost gliding mouthfeel and the carbonation is soft to average. Tastes alright. I have no idea what genre this is, but that doesn’t really matter. Light chocolaty, nesquick, cardboard and a dry feeling in the mountains have. It’s a bit too sweet to be called balanced. Drinks alright, but a tad to far out there on the sweet side for being true sessionabble. 19.10.2013

350ml bottle served in a snifter glass. A: Pours a cloudy and dark amber color forming a very small yellow thin bubbled head with small retention and no lacings left in the glass. S: Strong fruity notes: cherries, apples and grapes, mainly. Notes of sweet grains, oak, leather, wild yeasts. Notes of apple vinegar. Metallic hints. T: Slightly sweet upfront. Very fruity and woody. Notes of sweet pale malts, caramel malts, oak, cherries and grapes. Wild Lambic-like yeasts. Reminds a Flanders Red. In overall, a slightly sweet upfront followed by a slightly sour taste. Light hops bitterness which makes it a perfect bitter-tart combination and balance. M: Heavy molasses body. Very low carbonation. Fruity and tart aftertaste. O: Excellent drinkability. Perfect sour beer. Reminds a good Cabernet wine. Masterpiece.

From XXXII. 75cl. Un Teku glass. At dinner, with chicken steaks + papas aliñas; and watching Los Soprano 1x01 after that. Refreshing tartness in aroma and mouth. Tangy and dry, giving thirst. High carbonation, causing los of foam. Not so bad, but 75cl become tiresome, 33cl would be better. Some sediments at bottom

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy red color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of sour and funky notes with some vinous notes also easily perceptible. Taste is quite a mix of funky notes with vinous notes, oak, and sour with some acidic notes also noticeable. Body is full with limited filtration and medium carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Solid beer but this vintage is not as well balance as in some of the prior years.

Sampled from an 11.15 oz flip top brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a huge creamy tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was cola, wood, cherry, vanilla, toasty malts and anise. The flavor was sweet yet bitter with toasty malts, wood, fig, raisin, anise and a bit of cognac. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Odd but interesting.
