The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours slightly hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is woody, vinegar, wine, tree, yeast, and all the fun stuff. Taste is fairly sour and lightly sweet. Very complex with many tastes. Tree comes in pretty hard. Vinegar and kind of like a flemmish sour ale. Nice.

BFM √225 Saison - Rhubarb
Draft glass @ Moeder Lambiek Original. Deep hazy orange, solid creamy white head. Nose is mellow soapy & faintly touch sour dough (bit more funky than sour), lightly funky canned peach – I know that this is rhubarb but I would have picked this one for peach. Taste is same mellow dough, lightly sweet, touch funky, faintly almost sour, light soap, flowers, big vague, touch one note with mellow canned peach far more so than rhubarb, big pleasant lightly funky bread profile & body. Decent, expectations were a bit too high after the brilliant grape version & my fondness of rhubarb.

Sample during the "Collaboration Beers on Deck!" tasting on 07/08/2016. Pours a murky brown color with a medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of fruit, wood and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of vinous oak, ripe fruit, yeast and malt. The finish is oak and Belgian yeast. Good beer all around.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. Islington - many thanks to Mattie Oh. Pours unclear orange-gold with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds doughy bread, light toffee, faint orange. Light to medium sweet flavour with more bread, toasted sugars, dough, light hammy smoke. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet on the finish, with further toasted bread, light toffee, smoke, candied ham. Novel, for sure. Not bad on the whole.

0.33l swingtop bottle. A really deep and dark brown - near black one in the glass with a good looking really huge almost creamy-fluffy dark ashy brown colored head. The nose is not directly what I would call extreme, but it’s still present with a little chocolate, a sour thing in the background and dark malts. It really doesn’t smell like it looks. It has a really nice oily mouthfeel with a comfortable above average carbonation level. That sourness in the aroma is also present in the taste. It’s woody-chocolate and a little bit sweet also. The slightly sourness actually works very well here. Making it a bit more interesting. Sour licorice? Is that a thing? Slightly peppery in the aftertaste. Interesting. 05.10.2013

Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite oily mouthfeel. Flavour has lots of good malts, toasted caramel, just a hint of chocolate, raisins, figs, red wine, lovely barrel aging. A bit sweeter than others years, but still wonderful.

On tap at PIB 2016, pours a cloudy orange amber with a very small off-white head. Aroma is complex as usual, with a good mix of dry dark fruits and balsamic, with subdued wood. Flavour is wonderfully structured, with lovely balsamic vinegar, dry tart red berries and subtle oak. Light tartness, heavy on the balsamic and fairly low on the wood (compared to other years). Complex and masterfully crafted. Excellent.
