3.7 ReaperAle Ritual Dark Ale "a lot to take in here, but all the big sweet flavors work well, as they are more than balanced with a big hop presence as well. good beer from a solid brewery!" Saturday, October 18, 2014

3.3 ReaperAle Deathly Pale Ale "a biscuity malty (while still being hoppy) pale ale, golden-orange in color with a very good aroma. the flavor doesn;t quite live up to the smell, but it’s pretty good." Friday, October 17, 2014
slowrunner77 |
3.7 ReaperAle Sleighor Double IPA "this beer is big and chewy, with a very hoppy presence (obviously) but more malty than you expect. That works more for the body than the flavor, but it’s pretty darn good anyway." Friday, October 17, 2014

3.3 ReaperAle Redemption Red Ale "a little more punch than your average amber ale, that’s for sure. I’m not sure thats better, but it’s not worse. darker, hoppier, with a hint of spice. fairly aggressive. recommended." Friday, October 17, 2014

3.9 ReaperAle Mortality Stout can’t really taste the honey, but it seems to lend itself to the exceptionally smooth body of this beer. other than that, it’s a good-but-not-great stout. recommended." Thursday, October 16, 2014

3.5 ReaperAle Sleighor Double IPA Bottle bought in Chicago in October 2011. Amber with a medium head. This beer reminded of a Barley Wine. Sweet with malt and toffee. Not that hoppy or bitter still a descent beer. Would like to try a fresh bottle. Saturday, March 31, 2012

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone Saturday, March 31, 2012

2.8 ReaperAle Deathly Pale Ale Bomber. Horrible pour - might have just been an off bottle - about five feet of head that just wouldn’t end. Once I finally shaved off a decent glass full, the aroma was a very sweet citrus, almost on the border of sugary. The appearance was a carbo loaded copper tangerine with crazy generous head (as I stated above). The sticky textured, light bodied palate complimented the light hopped citrus sweet taste. It reminded me of watered down grape juice. Not at all what I’d taste as a pale. Odd. Tuesday, January 17, 2012

3.4 ReaperAle Mortality Stout Tasted on 12/29/11 from a 22oz bomber bottle purchased at Binny’s Lincoln Park. Pours a completely opaque, nearly black, dark brown with a thin tan head that recedes to nothing more than a thin collar of lace. The nose is milk chocolate, smoked malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and a sour, lactic aroma. The flavor is more sour than anything else, with lemon juice, with all of the classic chocolate and coffee stout notes underlying, and some light dust and smokiness. The body is pretty thin, and somewhat watery, with lively, fizzy carbonation, and a long sour lemon, dark chocolate, coffee, dusty, and smokey finish. Normally I wouldn’t rate a beer that is this obviously infected, but I have had this beer several times over the past few years from what I assume to be different batches (there is no batch info anywhere on the bottle), but it has been soured every time, not to mention, it is still pretty enjoyable. 3.3 ReaperAle Sleighor Double IPA In celebration of beer #666. Cloudy, dark amber, almost brown. Aroma of figs and brown sugar. Taste of pine but there’s plenty of malt in there to balance it, so the bitterness isn’t too overwhelming. The finish reminds me of "dark" grapefruit and has some sweetness to it. Saturday, May 21, 2011

3.4 ReaperAle Redemption Red Ale Leading up to beer 666 for me, I feel a need to tame it with Redemption Red. Clear and very dark amber with a tan head. Aroma of dark berries or cherries. Taste is very malty with chalky dirt flavors along with flavors of dark fruits. There’s a good bitterness in the finished mixed along with more cherry flavor. Saturday, May 21, 2011

2.7 ReaperAle Mortality Stout Dark black color with light brown suede head. Getting an overwhelming sour feel with aroma/taste. Very toasty malt, dark chocolate coffee aroma, but sour still there. Taste of bitter chocolate, overtoasted malts and unsweetened chocolate. Sour throughout. Bitter dry finish. Not bad, just didn’t like the sourness. Saturday, March 26, 2011

3.6 ReaperAle Mortality Stout Bottle, somewhere during RBSG, July 2006 (but not at the Grand Tasting - can only assume some kind soul opened and shared it at some point). Almost black with just a slight ruby tinge. Quite roasty. Some chocolate and coffee. Not the biggest strong but quite tasty and surprisingly drinkable. Friday, February 25, 2011

2.6 ReaperAle Deathly Pale Ale This must have been an old bottle. Pours a semi hazy dull orange with suspended small particulate. Big funky nose at first but that fades as it breathes. Old citrus hops through and through. Cool label art as always. Monday, December 27, 2010

3.8 ReaperAle Sleighor Double IPA Bottle, shared with Parksy. GUSHER! Leaping from the bottle, this beer is a hazy dark orange with an orange-tinted crown. Very malty toasty nose with underlying citrus hops. Palate is full of chewy toffee malt, lightly toasty, with oily grapefruit and light pine hops. Definitely a malt-forward IIPA, although the age of the bottle (unmarked) may have something to do with this (and the whole gushiness thing). Tasty nonetheless. Friday, December 17, 2010

3.8 ReaperAle Mortality Stout Damn good stout - zero to small amount of hops at end made this smooth and easy to drink; not much aroma; black pur with dark beige head (small). Perfect roasted taste with tinge of sweetness/chocolate. Did i mention goes down smooth on back end. Will have again. Sunday, November 7, 2010

2.4 ReaperAle Deathly Pale Ale Bottle from the new Majestic on Pioneer. Hazy, light pour with a white head and plenty of floaters. Aroma is lame, pine, mostly just floral hops with the citrus barely being present. Taste is bitter, earthy, caramel, and a little rough. Sunday, November 7, 2010

3.3 ReaperAle Mortality Stout First rating of a foreign stout. Bomber purchased over a year ago at Holiday Wine Cellar ($4.49). Pours basically pitch black (bits of brown-ish highlights on the edge) with one finger of dark brown foam. Aroma of smoky grainy malts, some stewed fruits, salty chocolate, and light sourness. Flavor has a distinct sourness that is unexpected and dominant as well as honey and dark overripe fruit. A tangy sour finish. Not sure what’s up with the sourness in the brew. It’s distracting. 2.9 ReaperAle Redemption Red Ale Pours a dark brown color with a thick white head and lots of lacing. Aromas are sour jolly rancher and floral hops. 3.1 ReaperAle Deathly Pale Ale 22 oz bottle. Pours hazy orange, huge head. Strong aroma of citrus. Flavor tasted a bit stale, but could taste toffee, pine, and grapefruit. 3.4 ReaperAle Redemption Red Ale Pour is more of a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with a little chocolate in there. Flavor is more of a chocolate with a little caramel malt toward the end. Nothing over the top good but this is a fairly decent red ale Friday, October 8, 2010

4 ReaperAle Sleighor Double IPA This is a really good beer! Drank the whole Bomber myself! Wish I had more! Would regret that in the morning! Poured a dark copper color with a small off white head that disipated. that was the only real flaw I found. The hop aroma was great. Taste was very hoppy but well balanced! Mouthfeel was smooth and soft. Aftertaste was nice and bitter. Did I say that I really, really liked this beer? Friday, October 8, 2010

4 ReaperAle Mortality Stout Midnight black in color. It’s so black that light barely penetrates it. Thick caramel colored head with very nice lacing. Aroma is a bit funky; some ripe cheese. Very chocolaty flavor immediately upfront. I like the trailing sweet mocha aftertaste... almost reminiscent of Mexican chocolate. Also there are some burn toast notes that play nicely in the background. Overall, this is very good. Glad to have tried it. Thursday, October 7, 2010
