New Jersey Blueberry Pie
Thick, dense, chunky and almost fully opaque deep brown and muddied ruby coloured body with a pretty thin, fast-dying off-white head, but a lot of bubbles still showing on the sides - with some violet and odd blue tints here. Aroma of lactose, cream, alcohol, funky biscuity and grainy malts with some odd fruit notes perhaps from blueberries, but some pungent bitterness here in the nose, seemingly from the hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Very sweet, lactosey and creamy notes show at first with a pretty big kick of graham cracker and biscuity malts with cereal here as well and a rich fruit note that seems more pear and papaya than blueberries, but the alcohol and especially rich, creamy, lactosey pungency is the strongest. Aftertaste is strong showing all of these flavours, wtih the malts, lactose, cream and light tart fruits (these seemingly ARE blueberries) all here, and some bitterness and alcohol too. Overall, a deep and quite rich beer with some nice flavours throughout and while not any sort of 'traditional' IPA, this at least has some bitterness, and I still think this should be in a different category all together - this is nice to have close to Thanksgiving and local-ish! Nice if you actually like blueberry pie (I don't)! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-September-2022 for US$4,90, sampled at my house here in Washington on 08-November-2022, on Election Day in our fine country.

16 ounce can. Number one with a bullet. Hazy, mahogany brown color. Frothy tan head. Strong dark malty aroma has notes of peanuts and raspberry. Flavor falls flat. Raspberry flavor dominates, leaving peanut butter and dark malts on the floor with the crust. Smells good, taste… eh, not so much. Salty, tangy finish is disappointing.

A dark brown porter with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, peanut butter, vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light vanilla, light peanut butter, very nice. On tap at Barcade Newark.

16 oz. Can. Part of a peanut butter beer tasting. Aroma is mild peanut, peanut shells. The flavor shows a decent amount of peanut in relation to the first two we had today. A good amount of actual peanut as opposed to peanut butter.

Can pour from share with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! It's an opaque black with finger-width beige head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is moderately strong peanut and peanut butter. Taste is moderately strong peanut and peanut butter, hint of chocolate. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste with, perhaps, some lightly bitter roasted coffee. Overall, a really nice sweet, fresh peanut that's different from peanut butter but all but missing the chocolate and coffee. Somewhat disappointing.

DATE: December 30, 2021... OCCASION: having just binged Loki with the family, I seek a winter warmer to end the night with.... GLASSWARE: snifter... this starts with a dark-as-coal body hoisting a thick, frothy, toasted brown head that retains well... big cinnamon and gingerbread, malty dough, toffee and syrup.... some vegetable as well... sips as a thick, chewy first impression... it buzzes at the teeth and presents a milky thickness at the throat... warming yet not offensive in its heft... the gingerbread is mediated by with toffee, tootsie roll, molasses, sweet toasted malts, and licorice combine to render a murky, swirling taste profile... the gingerbread here is not strong enough to overcome the heavier aspects, so I can't say this works all the way through... this feels like a night cap, and the flavor is worth mulling over...

DATE: May 28, 2021... OCCASION: more 30 Rock and beer--this time, one whose can hilariously skirts copyright infringement to evoke a beloved Hershey treat... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... quickly out of its can, the head sizzles before it rings a light brown halo surrounding a similarly-tinted island... its body is jet black--dare I say imperial... the aroma of peanut butter, mocha, confectioners' s sugar, ginger, licorice and (most noticeably) coffee approximate the candy but soften to its porter base... the draw is wet, oily and smooth--its 8% ABV lies well hidden, as each sip is gentle and slightly viscous to the throat, leaving a subtle finish... this is a scratch-and-sniff approximation of the original, with the cocoa and roasted malts, coffee and small hints of peanut butter that make this an enjoyable, though less than imperial experience.... this wasn't a bad idea to take a flyer on, but it doesn't ascend the pantheon heights of its aforementioned namesake....

Nice, deep and dark copper coloured body with a slightly hazy glow and a relatively thick, but fast-dying tan head that starts off at about four centimetres tall that goes to just about nothing, a few moments later. Aroma of deep pumpkins, squash and very nice spice elements with allspice, cloves and especially canella all noticeable - very nice and deep throughout and some caramelised sugars and toffee all on the fringes, but relatively strong. Medium-bodied; Strong grainy and herbal bite at first with a ton of squash and heavier malts with a good deal of both sweetness (from caramelised sugars and toffee) and spices (allspice and canella are the strongest) that make this very nice across the sample with a strong and enjoyable body and complexity. Aftertaste shows some caramel sweetness, a dash of flowers and grain and all ending with more spice, squash and caramelised sugars than are usually noticeable in a beer with three percent more alcohol than this. Overall, a very nice and pungent squash-based beer with a ton of spices as well, but showing some sweet spice notes which make this very elegant. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-December-2019 for US$2,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 19-October-2020.

New Jersey Brewers' Darkside Series: Chocolate Oatmeal Raisin Imperial Stout
Haven't had these flavors brewed together and came out so well before. Beer looks great dark dark brown with a nice mocha head the brew just oozes and is nice and thick looking. the flavors are powerful with a hint of alcohol a nice chewy body perhaps Vanilla then tempered Raisin, hop spice tingle and a bit of cocoa with just a waft of quality smoke Hudson County New Jersey has a very formidable Imperial Stout indeed. A must from the draft and big in the can right at the brewery. A big braggin' brew in the land where accomplishment speaks for itself.

Bottle. Nose heavy orange and tangerine, jammy and lightly musky, quite strong. Pour clear dull orange with a huge dense foamy beige head, but way overcarbed; when will these guys learn to carbonate their bottles properly? There’s just no reason for me to buy them. Taste medium-strong bitter, getting some Centennial-like floral character with lighter melon, just a touch rindy, more bitterness, light spice. I want to call it moderately dry but there’s just a touch too much sweetness for that. Full body, smooth but too crisp, airy, lacing. Clean, soft, does the job, and in the end, the taste is pretty darn good. [2017.01.31: 3.5]

Tap into a shaker showing black but translucent rims. The nose shows deeply roasted coffee-style malts. The palate is light bodied and medium carbonated; much more akin to a porter than a stout. Flavors of lightly roasted malts giving flavors of lightly roasted coffee and a surprising milk chocolate-like background. The finish is lightly bitter, very much close to a latte.
