3.7 Abilene Bock Taps clear caramel with a nice light tan head. Aroma offers toasted malt, caramel and subtle toffee notes. Flavor features toffee, caramel, toasted malt and woody hop tones adding up to a delightful bock. Mouthfeel delivers average body but good fizz. Don’t bock this trend - but if you do get bombed, please contact Lyft or Uber. Saturday, June 25, 2016

3.5 Abilene Honey Nut Brown Ale Taps clear cinnamon with a serviceable buff head. Aroma features sweet malt, honey, and subtle caramel notes. Flavor takes all that up a notch and tosses in a little bit of woody hops and a snip of honey. Mouthfeel offers average body but good fizz. Go nuts about honey! Saturday, June 25, 2016

3.8 Abilene Prairie Dog Pilsner Taps clear golden with a nice eggshell head. Aroma delivers apple and honey notes. Flavor delivers apple, pear, fresh malt, honey and even butterscotch notes plus a hint of hops - a distinctive and delicious Pilsner! Mouthfeel features decent body and fizz. Not your typical pils, definitely worth a try regardless of your favorite style. Saturday, June 25, 2016

2.2 Abilene Blonde Bombshell I was told this is their blended beer. When I ordered one I watched the bartender fill the glass halfway with their Pilsner and then their bock. Hmmm. Mild sour malt aroma. Copper-brown color and a weighty but puckering palate. These beers were not meant to be mixed. There’s definitely no synergy here. A harsh hop bite with a sour grainy finish. Bleh. Thursday, December 10, 2015

2.5 Abilene Double Bock Average to slightly below average. Decent deep brown color and average weight but it pretty much stops there. Faint candied malt aroma with a dirty woody taste. Not very robust as hoped. Tuesday, March 24, 2015

2.8 Abilene Winter Wheat This has a grainy wheat aroma and a little sourness. Brown tea-like color with a medium head. The weight is medium with good carbonation. Nothing special here but not offensive like some of their offerings. There is a wheat sourness from the darker malts. A little bit of roasted flavor with a hop bitterness on the finish. It was simply OK. Monday, July 22, 2013

3 Abilene Light Pilsner This was labeled Pancho’s Pilsner and I don’t think the style description listed above is correct. This was not a blonde ale as it fit the style markers for a true pilsener. I am happy to say this was actually a decent beer as it is very much hit or miss at this brewpub. The aroma was of grassy malts. The color was a clear golden with a good white head. The palate was clean and crisp. The flavor was standard pilsener with a dry finish. The hops balanced it well. There was a slight aftertaste that reminded me of lake water. It must be something with the water PH in this area as I noticed this on some of their other beers. Overall, a vast improvement over the red ale. Tuesday, July 16, 2013

0.9 Abilene Red Ale Crapola. This was labeled Rag’s Red and I’m not sure what the hell it was. First off, the appearance was off-setting. It looked like what rests at the bottom of a fermenter. Dirty sewage color. The aroma was of a fruit sourness. Very little malts and no hops could be detected. The palate was watery with low carbonation. The flavor was sour and like lake water with no hops bitterness and off flavors. I could finish it but never again. Looked like a lack of quality control but based on the other reviews, this appears to be a consistent result. Wednesday, July 3, 2013

3 Abilene Honey Nut Brown Ale Surprisingly not bad and a decent thirst quencher. Faint aroma of honey, malts ahd nut. Copper color with a medium tan head. The palate was average and crisp with good carbonation. The flavors were grainy malt with honey on the finish. Apparently, they add 16 pounds of it in the boil. I couldn’t really detect the nuttiness as described. Overall a decent beer that went well with a burger. Tuesday, June 25, 2013

0.7 Abilene Red Ale On tap at the Abilene brewery - Well it certainly wasn’t red. Gold in color, no head and had a fruity taste (apricot?). Something was very wrong about all the house brews at this place. Saturday, November 24, 2012

0.8 Abilene Belgian Wheat On tap at the brewery - Cloudy gold with no head. Had an aroma of paper currency. Tasted like a foreign pale lager. Saturday, November 24, 2012

0.5 Abilene Honey Nut Brown Ale If I could give it less than .5, I would. This BROWN ALE was as pale as a Budweiser. When I asked the bartender about the color and he very defensively said, "When you mix 16 pounds of honey in you’re going to get a golden color." Uhhhh, ok. It didn’t have any characteristics of a brown ale and it didn’t even taste like honey. Just a big mess. Saturday, November 24, 2012

2.7 Abilene Bock This was listed as Bucking Bull Bock and it was very middle of the road. It had a slight malty aroma. The color was a root beer brown with a foamy head. The flavor was disjointed in that you could tell it was a bock but no other uniqueness about it. I think the water out here is not the best, which might have affected this some. It was also a little heavy. The beer was better than the food though. Wednesday, July 25, 2012

3 Abilene Dubble Trubble Pours a deep chestnut color with a small off white bubbly head. Tastes of grape soda, Belgian yeast, licorice/ bubblegum, and bananas foster. Medium thick mouthfeel and hot finish. A definite step up. Saturday, January 15, 2011

1.5 Abilene Lite Bock Pours a hazy brown color with no head. Smells of old sour beer and malt water. Almost unrecognizable as a beer. Saturday, January 15, 2011

2 Abilene Red Ale Listed as rog’s red ale. Pours a brown / orange color with no head. Tastes of rust, biscuits, bran cereal, and earth. Almost no hops. Thin mouthfeel. Trainwreck at cypress street station. Saturday, January 15, 2011

2.3 Abilene Light Pilsner Listed just as the pilsner. Pours a hazy light yellow color with almost no head. Notes of lemon, unbaked bread, yeast, and grains. Little bit of hop presence on the back. Might as well be from a mr beer kit. Saturday, January 15, 2011

2.5 Abilene Pale Ale Pours a greenish orange color with a foamy off white head. Notes of grass grain alcohol (vodka), and faded citrusy hops. Hot mess. Monday, August 9, 2010

2.6 Abilene Honey Nut Brown Ale Pours a dark brown color that looks like coke. Weak watery bear with notes of peanut shells, caramelized brown sugar, and roasted almonds. Again, way too thin. Monday, August 9, 2010

2.9 Abilene Bock Listed as a "wheat bock". Pours a nut brown tootsie roll color with a small canvas head. Notes of burnt coffee, cocoa, cookie, and brown sugar. Medium weight mouthfeel at best. Sub par at best. Monday, August 9, 2010

2.6 Abilene Belgian Wheat Pours a greyish yellow color with a small white head. My first reaction is negative at how thin the mouthfeel of this beer is. Notes of grains, grape soda, and dimetap medicine. High carbonation and harsh soda like bite. Additional notes of butter and flour round this beer out to be a train wreck in good old Cypress Street Station. CHOooCHOOoO Monday, August 9, 2010
