Beck’s Red Ale
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized, non-persistent and slightly tanned foamy head. Slightly sugary toast-malty aroma with bready accents and caramel. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a modest carbonation. Toasty malt character with bready notes and plain caramel; slim bitter-sweet malt-accented and moderately toasty finish with hints of caramel in the short aftertaste. Better than expected, still quite boring and one-dimensional. 21.IX.16

Beck’s Oktoberfest
Pours a clear, but dark copper color. About half finger light tan head. Light retention, light lacing.

Aroma is malt malt malt. Medium roasted malt. Caramel, light molasses. There might be some very light floral or herbal hops. Smells inviting, can’t wait to dive in.

Taste follows the nose. Sweet roasted malts. Caramel, molasses, bready. Simple, tasty.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Easy drinking, super drinkable. It’s semi dry. There’s a touch of bitterness toward the end, not overwhelming. But it comes in too late for balance.

Overall, it’s a fine marzen. Simple, nothing fancy, does the trick. Absolutely, I recommend this. I am surprised by this. I absolutely would buy this again.!

Beck’s Gold
Hannover 4/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from Hotel Mariotts bar. Clear bottle with simple Classic label with big logo with a key (a bit new age). Pours clear yellow with small white head. Settles as ultra thin transparent layer of foam. Aroma is sweet with some cooked vegetable and wet newspaper thrown in for sports. Medium carbonation and watery palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by distinct lemon/citrus sourness. Quite artificial by the way. Aftertaste is sourish. Not a great pleasure but fortunately the cheap looks of this brew makes sure you are not too disappointed.

Beck’s 1873 Pils
Hannover 4/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from Hotel Mariotts bar. Another feature in Beck’s craft beer endeavours. This time with a "Traditionell Frisch" byline. Pours clear yellow with small white head. Settles as thin rim of foam. Aroma of sweet malts, grass and a little sourness. Kinda weak. Medium carbonation and watery palate. Taste is lightly sweet followed by medium bitterness which lingers in the aftertaste. Decent pilsner - but rather generic. More interesting than the standard brand - but that ain’t saying very much.

Beck’s Pale Ale
Hannover 4/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from the hotel bar. Very Black and trendy label where the phrase "Charaktervoll Hopfig" is repeated a couple of times leading me to believe that Beck’s has discovered the American hops. Pours clear yellow with small white head. Aroma of sweet fruit like peach and mango with light sour citrus notes. Light carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is nicely balanced between medium sweetness - a little sugary - followed by medium bitterness with some sour citrus notes. I miss a distinct hop profile - it’s not that Hopfig after all.

Beck’s Pale Ale
Brave enough from Beck’s InBev to please some beer enthusiasts, but the result is mediocre and somewhat pointless. To reach full potential on an APA with character this stands as an example that craft brewing is essential.

Beck’s Alkoholfrei (Non-Alcoholic)
Light gold pour with tall white head. Foam collapses instantly, giving off a skunk grass aroma. Taste is off- some strange sour green tea like impression with musty grain. Carbonation is high, and has a fizzy, thin mouthfeel. Finish is dry, but a metallic skunky funk remains. I dumped this one as it only got worse as it got warmer. Junk.

Beck’s Red Ale

I’m surprised that I had not come around to rate this beer so far! Pours pale golden with a foamy white head that dissipates rather quickly. The aromas are sweet, grain and also sweetcorn. Sweetish flavours, in the same character, some hoppy gradient to it, some malt, with an average finish. Watery, thin, but refreshing.

Draught about 100 times at summer music festivals. Funny I never bothered ticking it before :) The first one is kind of painful, the second one almost feels alright, the third one slowly turns into sparkling yellow water. Drink it fast and fresh, and make sure to share the fun with some good mates, prost!

Beck’s Oktoberfest
It has the taste of a normal Beck’s lager really dominating the maltiness that I like about Oktoberfests - not worth getting again, spend $1 more on almost any other widely available 6-packs and it will be better.

Haake Beck Pils
Pours a crystal clear golden color, with a fluffy, big head. Smells of coppery straw, sweeter malts and wet hay. Has a lively carbonation, together with a light bodied, refreshing tasting beer. Tastes watery, with a bubbly carbonation, opening up the palate to herbal, dry hops. Has an overly sweet middle part with a watery, slightly leafy finish. Not bad, regarding its recognizable hop profile, taming overly sweet malts for a longer while.

Beck’s Pale Ale
Pours clear golden with a sopay white head. Grassy notes from the bottle, the citrusy cascade is somehow present in the glass when it’s cold. Drink fast, the carboard will show up eventually. Given that it’s hard to get proper beer in some regions of Germany, this is something that’ll help you survive.
